We recently connected with Kysi “Keyz” Collins and have shared our conversation below.
Kysi “Keyz”, appreciate you joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
After moving from small town and being exposed to more individuals that do have successful businesses and brands, I started to realize they also are ordinary people just with extraordinary dreams. A lot of becoming successful has to do with believing in yourself and that your already have all you need currently in your life to make it happen. When you learn to leverage what you already have access to, you understand how easy it is to create additional sources of incomes in life. A part of my life story that has confirmed this for me is having the opportunity to attend a HBCU, being around other driven people and also being in a family of entrepreneurs and creeatives.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have always been a singer since a child and later became a piano player for my grandmother’s church. In college, i became intrigued to learn more about psychology and pursue my passion in the health and mental health. During the years of college, I also noticed I had an eye and wanted to get into photography. I started by doing a lot of my colleagues graduation portraits and later got into new born, weddings and etc. Later after college, I had the opportunity to work as a neurologist specialist for a few years. Later i decided to become certified as a holistic life coach. Also during COVID, I decided to become more active in social media and find a way to capture visuals to bring more awareness to mental health through podcasting. This opened the door to me learning the ins and out of being a one woman band. I started to shoot different types of content and ways to portray a story to grab the target audience attention. After learning the psychology of scaling a business, I became passionate in also helping other growing their businesses by proving filming services and also helping one create the mindset to become successful in every area of life.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Best advice to build social media presence is to be consistent. If creating something feels good, post it and trust the right people will find you. As you continue to grow in funds and audience, invest in yourself and crafts; be willing to spend money to save time and spend time to save money in the right moment. It only takes one video to go viral! Some videos I spend two seconds on can get more views than a video I spent hours on editing so know when enough is enough!
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
To find my tribe; The individuals that resonate with my life story. I want to help others live their most authentic life through striving to be their best self every day. This will not only help them but also serve me by proving the space to express myself in a healthy way
