We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ky’saun James. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ky’saun below.
Alright, Ky’saun thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
The first time music truly consumed me was at 16 when I got asked to join the male choir of my school. At first ignorance was apart of my outlook not seeing it as very masculine, but once in the mix an entirely different world revealed itself an escape route from the daily ways of a teenager. When senior year came the decision to fully commit on creating music came to fruition. Sadly between 18 -22 I enlisted to the Marine Corps having to put the music on the back burner it was often a mental battle to keep going or just stop, however once discharged the ambition returned allowing me to create while still working on my craft day by day.

Ky’saun, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Well as stated before choir gave me a foundation, the military gave me the backing/funding to pursue something of my interest, college provided a solid foundation to catapult my craft another level. When it comes to what I do Ky’$aun James is an artist whether it’s writing, rapping, singing I put whatever current skill level into the music slowly getting better while delivering my truth. I’m most proud of the fact staying with this became a major outlet/lifestyle if it wasn’t for music I wouldn’t be tapped into myself while still learning myself. Fans can find songs through my discography they can enjoy some coming from early stages as an artist to most recently as one who’s coming to being his own entity with a identity only carried by me.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Seeing people vibe to my work actually accepting what came from a place of vulnerability and transparency. Something of a high to be honest, then getting recognized for your work from known artist who you didn’t know was watching from a distance, also the fans really supporting what you do I’ve had some reach out the tell me how the enjoyed the music or asked when more is coming .

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Keeping honest my social media prescence grew from attending open mics, networking with other like minded individuals, not being afraid to put oneself out of their comfort zone, hashtags helped also, with these actions leading to more performances in front of new faces.
