We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kyro. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kyro below.
Alright, Kyro thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I’ve known since I was a little ass kid. I remember being like 9 and seeing the Justin Bieber movie and just telling my mom over and over again, “im gonna be the next THAT”.
Yeah that was also maybe 6 months after MJ died. That just broke my soul man. I had literally just discovered the Jackson 5 a week before he passed!
So I just remember spending all the time in the world on YouTube watching these stars change the world. I knew I had to be apart of it all one day.
Kyro, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Kyro! Ummm what’s there to tell let’s see… I like pretty sounds and pretty people, and I like when those things come together to create beautiful moments. I make music for the real yearners out there you know? That friend who always has something or someone new they look forward to even though that’s the fifth call this week and you’re still trying to remember their update from call number 3? Yeah, that’s who I make songs for. Oh and I like croissants…….like A LOT.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Without question it’s the community I get to foster on the behalf of creation. Music is like that beacon of light, that brief distraction that nothing else matters. Mosquitoes spend all day in dog crap but once that light shines, it’s a wrap. You know? And at the light they get to look around and see all the homies are there too. Good music will always have you in good company.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
A lot of people really want to have discussions about music and movies and tv shows that they love, but get way too caught up in like talking numbers and strategy. What happened to all the nerds??? Who cares how much they sold first week? Did it make you get up and shake something? Did you have to call your friend just to know what they thought of that new episode? Did any of it make you feel 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨? I just wish we were all more aware of how “they” (he says using finger quotes and a smile) are trying to make our entertainment so casual and devalue entire mediums. An artist tells you their value, not the other way around.
