We were lucky to catch up with Kyraun Wilson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kyraun, appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
My actual start was accidental lol. I had always grew up around or had a dog or 2 when I was a kid, but hadn’t yet had one in my adult life. Once I got my first boy Apollo after he turned a year I started thinking “hmm maybe my guy needs a girlfriend?” I ended up getting a 2nd pup my girl Fari not even thinking about the 2 ever having pups. Fast forward my pups are now fully mature and spend every 2nd together! So one day I’m at work when I get a video call from girlfriend telling me “THEIR BUTTS ARE STUCK!” We ended up having a beautiful litter of 10 and this began Artisticpits. I started doing all the research I could on the breed and talking to other breeders for advice. 6 years later we have pups in over 12 states and hopefully we’ll be international next year!

Kyraun, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve always been a huge animal lover since I was a child. Reading zoo books and keeping up with shows from people like the late Steve Irwin. I had a bunch of different snakes and lizards but my love for dogs was definitely unmatched. I remember my first dog Naz. I came home from school and didn’t even notice the little black fur ball sleeping on my god brothers lap. He finally said to me, “You not gonna say hi to your little friend?” I turned and looked confused, and as if she new what was going on she woke up from her nap and stared right at me. We were truly inseparable from that moment on. I had some tough times as a kid growing up and by my side thru some of my loneliness most vulnerable moments was my girl Naz. She always knew what I needed and when I needed it she gave me so much love that I couldn’t possibly repay her for. When I got started with Artisticpits I wanted to focus on that bond. I wanted to give people some of what I was able to share with Naz for many years of my childhood. I’ve been able to breed some of the most loving, silly, intelligent, caring and protective companions with amazing personalities so far and I am truly thankful. I have had many owners express to me how their pup has changed them and brought so much joy to their lives and even more so as they grow into adulthood. I’m most proud of the way our dogs are loved. People tell me things like “I never use to let any of my dogs on the couch until him” or “I’ve never seen so much personality in a dog before” and they tell me all the funny little weird and cute things their dog does and I love it all!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Content is key but it must capture your target audience. For me I breed dogs and I want them to go to loving caring homes so the pictures and videos I post are all geared towards trying to get that “AWWW” or “OH MY GOD HOW CUTE” reaction from people when they see my posts which will ultimately lead to more clicks, more traffic, more sales.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Whenever I travel to do deliveries I vlog everything. I also leave business cards stickers etc. at different cities and airports when I go. Not only am I vlogging but the customer I’m traveling to usually leaves me an awesome review. So potential customers watching my page get to see the whole process with someone else and it makes them feel a lot more comfortable in choosing to move forward with us
