We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kyra Stayton . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kyra below.
Kyra , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Taking a risk is a leap of faith on doing something you can’t see or touch and lastly don’t know what will the ending be it’s scary, But for some reason you still do it because you know it will help you grow as a person and applying the lessons to keep going. I took plenty of risk which began Jun 8 2018 going to a college program right after high school . I will be honest I never knew how it will end I just knew that I started a new journey that I am proud of and happy to see the outcome . I say its my first risk because I was going to college as the first generation in my family, it was a lot of responsibility but I was happy and encouraged to keep going. I completed my journey on December 10th 2022 with a bachelor’s in communication studies and I took a risk and opportunity to go back and work at the college I graduated from and now I am a financial advisor counselor helping students and encouraging that they have others here to support them and help them through tough times whenever they need to talk .
Kyra , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I provide a Safe place for others , not just a safe place where you feel warm in the physical realm, but warm and safe in the inner you the spiritual realm. I have a business called Ky’s Safe Place I have peer support group where you can be yourself without judgement and also express emotions without interruption for FREE. My goal is to help the mental health and to build great friendships . I provide this because I know how important it is for a person to have a listening ear than a response conversation. Being able to bring peer support to others is valuable to the world and within your family . Have you ever had a moment or situation where when you needed a person to listen , they end up giving you advice and telling you how they feel about the situation that happen to you. which most times the people you express to can have a biased mindset which can make things not fair or be understanding on your end . Thats why Ky’s Safe place have a group where we are together and if anyone needs a listening ear we are here and if a person wants advice we provide it . Ky’s safe place is an organization that’s nonjudgmental and open to discussions and praise each other’s to be themselves with love .
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele was not actually looking for clients, but a family. I want to always remember who helped me, I feel like each person I connect with I can learn from and vice versa. The main reason is getting to know your family (client) more as a person then just a client . Also Opening doors so they know and I also for me to know that it’s okay to be comfortable with others and build friendships.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I feel like what helped me build my reputation within my business was me still being myself. I don’t want anyone to think I am perfect because I am not, I still go through emotions and hardships.I let it be known because I am still human and when certain thing come up or happen which I can’t control I have to go through certain stages with myself which sometimes can be hard and take a toll on the mental health . I don’t like to hide what I am going through when it comes to expressing with myself and with others in my family with Ky’s safe place . We all have each another and nobody is greater than anyone, so why not help one another .
