Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kyra Rosa. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kyra , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
I would say the defining moment in my professional career was before it even started in college. As I sat in the academic advisors office waiting to be seen, I noticed a pamphlet for massage therapy on the table. Before that day not once did I consider becoming a therapist but after the orientation I knew it was right for me. Now originally I planned on talking to my advisor to plan for my future classes at FIU, I was going for a pre-occupational therapy track but since I graduated with my associates early and I discovered the versatility of massage therapy I decided to go for it. By the time I graduated FIU I was a licensed massage therapist with 2 years of experience under my belt, a huge appreciation and fascination with holistic healing modalities. As a licensed massage therapist I was able to blend the ancestral knowledge that was already in me with new methods of application to help others. Almost 10 years later, and over 10,000 hours later I became one of the best massage therapist in Miami.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a holistic bodyworker and entrepreneur. I provide holistic body and skin care treatments, teach classes on sugaring, herbal vaginal steams, and consultations to help women transform and improve their lives. I bridge the gap for my clients by providing high quality therapeutic treatments and the latest information in my local community so they don’t have to cross a bridge to find peace of mind. What sets me apart is my professional experience and my character, I value authenticity and directness so there is no second guessing about what you will receive when supporting my business. I am most proud of my prenatal certifications, it makes me feel honored that women trust me with their bodies as they carry new life into the world.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
So I will share a story of how my independence became my strength. Now lets go back to when I first stepped out on faith and became a business owner, I had no clue what I was doing but I knew I was talented and people would support good work. I got an offer to work in someone else’s salon, and initially it was a blessing, I began to invest in my business and soon even expanded my services. Fast forward things didn’t workout but because I already started my journey there was no turning back. Fast forward I applied for a job to keep me afloat while I took my private clients on my spare time about a year until covid hit. During the pandemic I felt confident to take my business on full time again traveling to my clients, until I found my new workspace. Starting a new business can be difficult in my case I didn’t let negative experiences hinder my purpose. I took Ls and turned them into lessons for the future and appreciate everyone that has helped me grow along the way.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was that things don’t have to be perfect in order to be good. The right time may never come, but that doesn’t mean you delay your plan because you want to take action at the perfect time. As a professional I pride myself on having proper qualifications because I feel it is very important when performing bodywork especially working with pregnant women, yet I have seen how you can facilitate a space of healing without actually having to perform the work. There is nothing wrong with bringing together people who are qualified to do a task for people you want to serve, in fact it can help you achieve your goals faster.
