We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kyra Beasley a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kyra thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you share an important lesson you learned in a prior job that’s helped you in your career afterwards?
Before going into business for my self, I worked in sales and marketing. Like anything it had its ups and downs. I worked with talented people who were great at their job. I also worked with people who had the ‘wolf of wall street’ mentality, which never ends well. Most of the business practices were out of integrity, which led to the business shutting down, losing employees, and eventually rebranding. Being in this scenario taught me a couple things. One, you can’t build a sustainable business if you have a foundation made out of quicksand. The foundation represents mindset, cultural environment, and ethics. Being that I am now in the spiritual /wellness industry, I committed to always show authenticity and to remain in integrity. Two, you can put a dress and make-up on a pig, but at its core it is still a pig. Rebranding for the sake of ‘saving’ reputation and consumer base isn’t good enough. Rebranding comes with a lot of reevaluation, reflection, and redirection. It’s truly about rebuilding the foundation to progress forward. Lastly, staying in alignment with set values, morals, and guides always wins at the end.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am an alignment coach and healer. I help many people from different walks of life heal from their past wounds to reconnect with the truest form of their soul by breaking down limiting beliefs, paradigms and self-exploration. I got into this industry, because I fully enjoyed learning about psychology, how the brain works, spirituality and metaphysics. After going through my on dark night of the soul and shadow work journey; I felt called to help others through theirs as well.
The services that I am currently providing are tarot readings, one on one coaching, group coaching, and speaking engagements. The problem that I help to solve is giving my clients to the tools and resources necessary to overcome their own shadow, limitations, and debilitating stories.
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
I would definitely choose the same profession, because it doesn’t feel like work. It doesn’t feel like a ‘profession.’ This is my life. If you find a profession that you truly enjoy, that you are passionate about, that feels natural to you… don’t pass it up. Not even for money, because the money and experiences will come.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson that I had to unlearn was the ‘I’ll sleep when I’m dead’ hustle culture mentality. I surround myself with people who are in the same industry as me. Most of them make 3-5 times more as me and work less than half of the hours I put in. I had to unlearn what my value meant to me. We are often taught that our value comes from the amount of work we’ve put in. How much we’ve sacrificed. We’re taught that out value comes from a title, position, and the number of commas we have in our bank accounts. That couldn’t be furthest from the truth. Our value comes from who we intrinsically are. We are valuable because we simply exist. Just like nature. You don’t have to be a mule or a martyr to be seen as valuable.
