Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kym De Los Reyes. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kym, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
It’s not always simple, but taking a chance on yourself and acting on your faith is incredibly rewarding! Every day and every circumstance has the potential to succeed or fail, but at least you are in control and have choices to make along the way. Working hard is a requirement if you want to make a life as a painter. Every day, regardless of how you are feeling, you must get up and go to work. It’s crucial to use creativity to develop additional passive income sources; there are many methods to do this thanks to technology. Nobody will work as hard for you as you will… if you bet on anything, so bet on yourself. It’s a long trip, but gratifying and worthwhile!
Kym, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve had a modest business for eight years, and I also paint professionally and exhibit my work in galleries. In addition to being represented in art galleries across the country, I work with designers, design studios, and specialized boutiques. I provide education in addition to operating my business out of a dedicated art studio. I keep in touch with clients and collectors working closely on special commissions. In my practice, having my own website is crucial. It’s been set up for inspiration and communication with collectors. At the stroke of a mouse, you can access all of my information about my practice! It’s awesome! I adore my work! I am incredibly appreciative of all of my gallery owners and everyone I get to collaborate with every day.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
The playing field has been leveled for small firms thanks to online marketing. I adore utilizing social media and technology to grow my collection and clientele lists. Apps are a fantastic tool that I wish I had discovered sooner. The many fantastic in-situ apps that display your artwork in mock-up on designer spaces enable the buyer to visualize the art in their own homes. Marketing has a big function for social media. It would have sped up my progress if I had taken online marketing more seriously.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Despite the fact that I simply enjoy producing modest, profound, religious things, I would dearly love to grow and expand my size and range. In terms of representation, I am eager to advance and to work with museums. I want to establish a brand for myself in a specific genre, like my large abstract paintings. I truly want to expand my audience of collectors and work on a larger scale. I’d want to work on fewer, more significant collections. I desire to develop further in these areas. I don’t think I’ll ever get where I’m going. I want my studies and journey to never cease!
