Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kylie Brown. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kylie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
My parents always say I came out singing. I remember begging them to enter me in a talent show at my pool when I was 5 years old. I have always been comfortable on stage. I started performing locally around my hometown in Northern Virginia when I was in 7th grade. I started with a 45 minute set then quickly led to me performing 3 hour sets all over Virginia. I really started songwriting during Covid. I was bored with my school classes and I started writing songs. I decided to apply to a few different songwriting camps and I was thrilled when I found out I got in. It was at those camps that I realized I loved songwriting. I love telling stories that other people can relate to through song. With the support of my amazing parents, we moved to Nashville this past summer so that I could pursue singing and songwriting here in Music City. It has been absolutely amazing so far. I am performing all over Nashville, even on Broadway. I got to perform at the iconic Bluebird Cafe a few times and I have starting writing with other amazing songwriters.
Kylie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a 16 year old singer/songwriter originally from Northern Virginia. I moved to Nashville to pursue my dreams in June 2024. I have currently have music that you can stream on all platforms and perform around 4 nights a week all over Nashville. For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I think the most rewarding part about being a singer/songwriter is being able to touch people all over the world through my songs. I might write a song about love but when other people listen to it, they hear something different. I’m just starting out in this amazing industry but I already have listeners in other parts of the world. It’s so cool. My goal is to one day write your favorite song. I think it’s the belief that one day that is really going to happen. That’s my goal.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I would say I have been focusing on my social media following for the last 6 months. I try to post every day and over a variety of different platforms. I focus on my music mostly but I also like to keep my posts positive. I am a very positive, happy person and I want social media to see me as I am everyday. As I said before, I’m just starting out but my advice to everyone would be to post often and on many different platforms.
