We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kylie and Chaz Huntsman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kylie and Chaz thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
Our whole goal with sharing our adventures on Instagram is to help others experience and see things they might otherwise miss out on. We hope that one day, people will look at us and be reminded that there is so much more to see, not only in the state of Utah, but everywhere you go. We know it sounds cheesy, but life doesn’t have to be boring, sometimes you just have to take the path less traveled. You never know what you might find when you look at the world from a different perspective!
Kylie and Chaz, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We started Utah Adventure Chasers June 6th, 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. One day Chaz started a list of unique places in Utah. The list just kept getting longer and longer! We decided that even though there was a lot of chaos with the pandemic, we could still get outside and explore and enjoy life. As the list grew, we realized that we didn’t want to keep this all to ourselves but share it with people who would like to explore just like us! Getting outside and enjoying Gods creations was one of the greatest things we could have done during a challenging time and we wanted others to realize how lucky we are to live in such an amazing state!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding thing is sharing with others things/places that are so special to us. We thrive with adventure and realize how the outdoors bless our lives. It is really rewarding when we get to see others experience what we love.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Resilience is a part of almost every aspect of life… we’ve had to show resilience in finding balance between working and exploring. We’ve had to show resilience when we’ve had plans for an adventure, but plans changed. We’ve had to show resilience when we’ve gotten lost on our adventures but have realized that just as with anything in life, if you keep pressing forward, the result and reward is often worth it! Last July, we were hiking up near Albion Basin, trying to find the Prince of Whales Mine. We definitely got off course and couldn’t figure out where the actual trail was. (Thank goodness for the AllTrails app or we probably wouldn’t have found it). We continued and backtracked a few times and finally found out way. It was one of the coolest hikes we’ve done. The wildflowers were in full bloom and the view was astonishing. We weren’t worried at all, or in any kind of danger, but we did have to hike a few more miles than we originally planned. It would have been easy to just turn around and say well try again another time, but we are so glad we continued forward or we might not have seen the wild flowers!
