We recently connected with Kylia Jackson and have shared our conversation below.
Kylia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
“The richest place in the world is the graveyard.” This is because so many people take their big ideas with them instead of executing them. Can you imagine having the solution to someone’s problem in your hand and never releasing it?
Sadly, this is the reality for most people. I used to be an information hoarder, spending hours and hours collecting research and never doing anything with it. I talked myself out of every opportunity that challenged my confidence even though I was overqualified to complete the task. I was frustrated because I would constantly start projects and never finish them. In 2019, I started the Organize My Thoughts Podcast to document my journey of getting out of my head and executing. I quickly learned that thousands of people were struggling in this same area and I made it my mission to help as many people as possible bring their big ideas to life.
Kylia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Kylia Jackson and I am a Certified Life Coach & Execution Strategist specializing in helping faith-based women & businesses get out of their heads and execute their divine ideas. I share practical tips and strategy to help manage your mind, life, and time through my podcast, Organize My Thoughts, and YouTube channel.
One of the biggest challenges that my clients face is life management. They know that they are called to launch creative ideas but with so many life responsibilities and a flood of sabotaging thoughts attacking their minds, they tend to put their creative ideas on the back burner.
I believe this happens for 3 main reasons:
-They get stuck in their heads battling insecurity, comparison, and imposters syndrome
-They get overwhelmed by all of the ideas and don’t know which one to focus on
-They don’t have a system to manage their time to execute efficiently
I believe that ideas are solutions to problems…seeds that God gifts us with to be watered and brought to life. What sets me apart from others is that I specialize in helping women bring their creative ideas to life. Most of my clients are launching YouTube channels, journals, planners, blogs, and other creative projects but they aren’t necessarily creatives by trade. So , they spend a lot of time researching and collecting information but tend to get stuck in that phase and overwhelmed with how to move forward.
Because I have over 11 years of strategic planning, marketing, and design experience, in addition to being an Execution Coach , I’m not only able to help my clients manage their time and mind, but walk them step-by-step on how to execute their creative idea from beginning to end.
I love seeing the joy on my clients face as they finally make progress on ideas that they’ve buried for years. I’m most proud that I get to play a part in making sure that people don’t take their ideas to the grave. With every client I work with, they are one step closer to walking in their purpose.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One thing I learned in life is that time is my biggest asset. After spending years hoarding my ideas, starting but not finishing, and making excuses, I watched myself end up in the same place year after year. I watched my ideas die and my passion along with it. The biggest lesson I had to unlearn is that “busy=productive.”
Scattering my focus across multiple projects kept me busy but not productive. I was moving fast but not finishing anything. I quickly learned that in order to become a finisher, I needed to identify my priorities and hyperfocus on them. I also had to learn that focusing on one idea at a time didn’t mean that my other ideas weren’t important. They just had dedicated time and season.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Atomic Habits by James Clear has revolutionized the way I approach life. Atomic Habits teaches readers a simple set of rules for creating good habits and breaking bad ones. Building a business has exposed many areas that I needed to improve and this book helped me identify my bad habits and establish systems to build and maintain good habits. I’m now able to be much more efficient in how I manage my life and business.
