We were lucky to catch up with Kylee Levien recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kylee , thanks for joining us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
I have to give my parents all the credit for being amazing role models and living by example. They did a lot of things right but one that comes to mind is once I chose my acting career, they were my number one supporters from every audition to every red carpet! They also have always stressed how important it is for my siblings and I to support each other so we have always gone to every game, event and premiere of each others. I love that I have a built in cheering section!
Kylee , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Two cool things about me: I am the youngest of 4 children and 2 of us are still in the biz! When people ask if this biz is easy, I say…. This is such a crazy industry and it keeps me on my toes for sure! You have to have thick skin and a lot of patience! Many of us couldn’t wait to get back to work after the covid shutdowns and now we’re in a strike, meanwhile we grow and change daily. Thankfully, we can take the time to build our skills and get some rest. I’ve been learning Ukulele and I volunteer weekly for two organizations in my community. Throughout it all, I keep focused on my faith and try to stay humble and grounded when talking about my career.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I spend more time on TikTok than on my Instagram but I love the connections I have on Instagram. Most people have encouraging words that help me stay focused and remember my “why”. My audience has grown recently on IG because I have been working on the webseries, Dhar Mann and he writes inspirational content that encourages his followers, who then end up supporting me. I love social media for the networking atmosphere and the positive conversations I have!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
As you know, actors don’t book every audition we get. It is a big deal when our agents send us even one audition because there are so many other people who may not have even had that opportunity. I say getting an audition is the job and booking the audition is the fun part! Eventhough it is a lot of work on set because you have to be “ON” the entire time, thats the work that our fans get to actually see. We get told a lot of “no’s” along the way, so we have to learn not to take it personally and still stay positive.
