We were lucky to catch up with Kylee Bandy recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kylee, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
After the death of my father in 2018, I knew there had to be a better way to handle the endless list of tasks that exist when managing a loved one’s estate. How could it be that for other major life events, there was expert support available; but when it came to death, there was seemingly none to help with the nitty gritty details of loss?
After Loss Advisors was founded to provide unwavering support to those who need it, ensuring they feel accompanied throughout every stage of preparing a legacy or dealing with the aftermath of losing a loved one.
I set out to provide a solution to this missing gap in our system. These were the services I wish my family had access to when we were in the thick of it – when we were feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, and unsure of which step to take next.
Now my business supports people with navigating these logistics after a loss, as well as preparing and organizing ahead of time with our legacy services.
Kylee, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
At After Loss Advisors, we specialize in helping individuals and families navigate two of life’s most critical yet often overlooked areas: legacy and estate organizing and after loss consulting. Our mission is to provide compassionate, structured guidance so that people can feel prepared before a loss and supported after one —without the overwhelm that often accompanies these transitions.
After the passing of my father in 2018, my family experienced firsthand the logistical burden that comes with managing a loved one’s estate. Even with the support of attorneys, financial advisors, and CPAs, we were left to handle countless administrative tasks—many of which we weren’t even aware needed to be done. It became clear that while professionals exist to manage the legal and financial aspects of estate planning, there was a significant gap when it came to practical, hands-on support for families navigating both pre-planning and after-loss logistics.
That experience led me to create After Loss Advisors, a service designed to ease this burden by offering personalized estate and after-loss support that ensures families have clarity, organization, and peace of mind.
We work with individuals, families, and professionals to address both proactive planning and reactive support needs:
🔹 Legacy & Estate Organizing – Helping people get their affairs in order before something happens. This includes ensuring critical personal information, financial accounts, passwords, and key documents are organized and accessible so loved ones aren’t left searching for answers.
🔹 After Loss Consulting – Supporting families and estate executors in managing the overwhelming number of logistical and administrative tasks that come after a loss. This includes handling account closures, notifying financial institutions, coordinating with professionals, and making sure nothing is overlooked.
🔹 Professional Collaboration – We work alongside financial advisors, estate attorneys, senior care professionals, and CPAs to provide a holistic support system for clients, filling the gaps between professional services and real-life logistics.
Unlike traditional estate planning services that focus solely on legal and financial documents, we bridge the gap between planning and execution. Our role is to make sure clients don’t just have a plan on paper—but that their loved ones have everything they need to carry out that plan seamlessly and with confidence.
Key aspects that make After Loss Advisors unique:
✔️ Comprehensive Support: We don’t just provide advice—we help execute, organize, and walk alongside families in real-time.
✔️ Compassionate & Practical: We understand that both planning ahead and navigating loss can be emotional, and we provide a calm, guiding presence to remove stress from the process.
✔️ Tailored to Each Client: No two families are the same, so we customize our approach to each person’s needs, family dynamics, and personal circumstances.
We are most proud of the relief, clarity, and peace of mind we bring to families. Whether it’s helping someone get their estate details in order or assisting a grieving family who feels completely lost, our impact is deeply personal.
We’ve helped clients who thought they had everything organized, only to realize they were missing crucial details—like account passwords, digital assets, and beneficiary tracking. We’ve supported overwhelmed executors who didn’t know where to start, ensuring they had a clear roadmap to navigate their responsibilities.
At the heart of our work is the belief that no one should have to go through this alone—whether they are planning ahead or managing loss in real-time.
Planning ahead is a gift to your family—it ensures they have everything they need without added stress.
If you’re dealing with a loss, you don’t have to figure it all out alone. We can help lighten the load.
We work with individuals AND professionals—financial advisors, attorneys, CPAs, and senior care experts—to provide holistic support for families.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for After Loss Advisors has been referrals from two key groups: satisfied families we’ve supported and trusted professionals in our network.
Many of our executors and families come to us after experiencing firsthand how overwhelming estate logistics can be—whether they’re planning ahead or managing the aftermath of a loss. When they see the relief, clarity, and peace of mind our services provide, they often share their experience with friends, family, and colleagues who may be facing similar challenges.
Additionally, we’re grateful for the strong professional partnerships we’ve built with estate attorneys, financial advisors, senior care professionals, and CPAs. These experts understand the critical role we play in bridging the gap between legal, financial, and logistical after-loss tasks. Because they trust our process and see the value we provide, they confidently refer their clients to us, knowing we will handle their needs with professionalism and care.
At the core of our business is the belief that no one should have to navigate this process alone. Whether it’s through word of mouth from a past client or a referral from a professional who trusts us, we’re honored to be a resource for those seeking clarity, support, and expert guidance.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Specific to my field, several books have influenced how I manage After Loss Advisors. Two that stand out are:
Being Mortal by Atul Gawande – This book deeply shaped my perspective on legacy planning and after-loss support. It emphasizes the importance of allowing people to make their own choices about how they live, even up until the very end. That philosophy aligns with how we approach legacy organizing—helping people ensure their wishes are clear and that their loved ones are prepared.
Option B by Sheryl Sandberg – This book explores resilience in the face of loss, which is at the heart of the work we do. It highlights the emotional and practical aspects of navigating grief and rebuilding after life-changing moments, reinforcing the importance of having support, clarity, and a plan in place.
Both books remind me that end-of-life and after-loss planning isn’t just about logistics—it’s about preserving dignity, fostering resilience, and providing guidance so families can focus on what truly matters.
