We recently connected with Kyle Wong and have shared our conversation below.
Kyle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My purpose is to serve, and my job truly is to serve you with my professional education and resources. I do everything in my power to accomplish that. From the systems and processes we put in place as the Moxie Colorado real estate team, to the podcast that I run with a business partner of mine, we aim to help and to educate as much as we can. Our real estate team, Moxie Colorado has always shared the philosophy that people should be operating at their highest and best, and we as a team strive to see that come to fruition with our own agents, staff, and partners, but also with our clients, vendors, and customers. What makes us different is that while everyone has the same time, tools, and resources, that we do, Moxie does it differently. We utilize all of our resources in a way to effectively, and efficiently serve our communities. That is reflected in our team, but also in our Youtube channel, “Somewhere in Colorado” aimed as educating people about our local areas. Likewise, our podcast, “The Innovator, The Imitator, and the Idiot”, aims to do the same. Our vision for the podcast was to help educate the “average” person by putting real estate into simple terms that can help make the process less intimidating and more easily approachable. When we started, we began with the belief that “if everyone knew what we knew, they would make decisions differently”. We stuck to that!
Kyle, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I personally believe that just about everything on this Earth can be improved upon. We can all do better, and we can all be better. It shows in our politics, our cities, and even our own bodies. I started to realize that we could do something about it when I got into real estate and the political atmosphere, when I saw just how many people complained about issues, but failed to act on those issues. I don’t think you can piecemeal something together and have it come out a masterpiece. Everything good requires a thoughtful plan, and consistent action to stick to that plan. Our laws cannot be changed without our input. Our cities cannot be changed without our help. Our communities will not be better by moving to a different one. We need to work together and improve things systematically. That’s why at Moxie Colorado, we are proud to tell everyone who we are, and how we do things, because nobody is their best when they’re working alone.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
2022 was an interesting market for real estate to say the least. There was a dramatic shift that was unlike anything ever seen before. Even those that aren’t in the industry felt it. Inflation was high, interest rates shot up, and just like that, business seemingly stopped. We’d be lying if we didn’t feel that at Moxie, but we continued with our tried and true methods of serving, educating, and preparing, our clientele to the best of our ability. We closed 2022 with 50+ transactions and went into 2023 strong.
Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
As COVID rocked our world in a tremendous way, 2022 seemed to rock right back. Now, we at Moxie are responsible for our clients and their wellbeing. We do that by using our professional knowledge and resources to aid and assist our clients in accomplishing their goals in real estate and also in their finances. We do anything it takes to help our clients reach those goals, so our tools are constantly changing to make sure we are up to the task. As markets change and our tools wear out, we need to be prepared and ready to seamlessly move from one method or tool, to another. While our methods in 2020 and 2021 were effective and fruitful, we needed to make a change in 2022. Our clients may not have noticed anything, but in the background we were scrambling to adjust to the nearly instantaneous change in the market. We had to adapt fast to ensure our clients were being served well, and we did!
