We recently connected with Kyle Waste and have shared our conversation below.
Kyle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you manage your own social media?
I manage all social media’s myself. It’s been a steep learning curve for sure. With analytics, focusing on a niche and staying motivated.
Kyle, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Kyle Waste and I go by my road name Barricade that was given to me. I’m a navy veteran, I was medically retired after 13 years. My job was as a Gunners Mate First Class. In simple terms, I was a weapons specialist. I have been riding motorcycles since 2012. The navy sent me to several motorcycle courses which helped me hone my skills. I have ptsd and anxiety, riding my motorcycle helps me to stay in the moment. It helps me stay positive and grounded. I started my YouTube during Covid and it’s a great creative outlet and a great community. With Barricade Rides my goal is to help the motorcycle community by creating content the motivates them to ride and give them the confidence to wrench on their bikes themselves. There is something special about being able to work on your own motorcycle. Sense of accomplishment and saving some money.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
During Covid I needed something to keep me busy and I was riding my motorcycle all the time. I started watching YouTube and found a rabbit hole on how to start a YouTube channel. I ended up watching videos for months before posting my first video. My best advice is to just get started. Your videos won’t be great at first. No matter what you want to make videos on, there is an audience. Reach out to fellow creators and build a community that supports each other. I have made so many new friends on my journey.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The relationships that I have made. I have friends all over the world now. It’s amazing how fulfilling it is growing as a creator. Setting goals and achieving them keeps me motivated to create better content. My goal is to up my quality or to learn something new with every video.
