We recently connected with Kyle Price and have shared our conversation below.
Kyle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I am developing a show called “Make It A Moment” which is a personal and project that I am developing as a love letter to Black & gay/queer men to create a safe space within the community that allows us to develop more intimately in a public space. This project is special to me because as a Black gay man there were often times when I felt like I didn’t belong or didn’t feel heard but my brothers in the community made me feel special and that connection helped me grow.
I feel like the least I can do is pay those lessons I learned forward to the upcoming generation of black queer youth to help them not feel alone and relish in the moment we are in.
Kyle, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I always feel I never discovered my profession but more so it came to me in every facet of when I needed it. Before I committed to full time acting, modeling and hosting I worked in the corporate world as a programmatic analyst. One day in 2018 I decided to quit my job and move to Africa (Capetown) when an opportunity with a modeling agency out there was offered to me while I was filming for a show in the States (Love @ First Night on Youtube). At the time I was at a cross roads with wether I should keep my corporate 9-5 or pursue acting/modeling full time and this was my sign to take the leap. I had never been in the continent prior to that offer but something told me to go and I’m so glad that I did. I met so many new friends and it instilled such a fearlessness in me taught me how to navigate not just through my industry but through life by taking chances on myself.
Since then, I have been signed to an agency, had a successful web series run and have done many national and international commercials that led me to my next endeavor which is developing my own TV show which is “Make It A Moment”. Every lesson that i’ve learned from corporate, acting and modeling has set me up to flourish in the profession I am choosing now.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The biggest lesson I had to unlearn was to not believe that little voice in the back of my head that’s telling me I can’t do it. I can do all things I put my mind to and because I can see it clear as day that means it is possible. That little voice is doubt, and as humans, it’s normal to have doubt but I can’t let that doubt outweigh my belief.
I used to a big over thinker instead of being a “do-er”. That overthinking caused me to procrastinate, not get anything done and doubt myself in the process. So I made a promise to myself on my 30th birthday while I was on vacation that I’m going to not think as much but just do and my first order of business was to just jump off of a cliff into a river. Ever since then I’ve always used that example to quiet the doubt and just get things done.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Share what you love!! Get excited about what your creative friends get excited about, support them and give them words of encouragement.
As a creative I spend a lot of time in my head and critiquing the things I work on and it means the world when people get excited over the things I come up with and share with their friends. That’s the boost most creatives need to keep going.
