We were lucky to catch up with Kyle Murphy recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kyle, thanks for joining us today. Often the greatest growth and the biggest wins come right after a defeat. Other times the failure serves as a lesson that’s helpful later in your journey. We’d appreciate if you could open up about a time you’ve failed.
When I was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS) back in 2014 I was devistated. I went from playing college baseball to being completely paralyzed from the neck down. It took me nearly a year to even stand up again. And in that year I failed in physical therapy countless times. Those failures were devistating and heartbreaking. But they were necessary. It doesn’t matter how many times you fail, it matters how many times you get back up and try again. Though failing over and over again, I was finally able to stand… then that lead to me being able to take my first steps again soon after …… No matter what, NEVER GIVE UP!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
How I got into social media / writing / modeling is kind of funny! It all started when I was paralyzed from the chest down recovering from my illness.. to pass time, I would creat comedy vines! I began to grow a small following, and even collaborate with bigger viners until it started to take off! Then as we all know vine ended, but before it did I was able to promote my instagram. That is now where I do most of my creating. As I started to post fashion photos and reels I was able to catch the eyes of some brands and even a couple stores! After working with brand / stores / influencers I was able to really grow up a solid following !
At the later stages of my illness I was also able to write an e-book that is now sold on Amazon called “TEMPOARY” . If you are in need of any encouragement or motivation, I pray you can check it out!
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I failed when I was recovering and learning to walk again. It taught me to learn how to accept my failures and even learn from them. I would attempt to stand up with my physical therapist and my legs would buckle…… or I would stand up and get tunnel vision and black out … was it terrifying ? YES … but did I let that get in my way of success ? NO!!!

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My ultimate goal in my life right now is to encourage as many people as I can, and to inspire. I want to teach people to never quit, and that anything is possible. During that dark time in my life I promised myself that something great would come out of this!
