We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kyle Losoya a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kyle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Almost every entrepreneur we know has considered donating a portion of their sales to an organization or cause – how did you make the decision of whether to donate? We’d love to hear the backstory if you’re open to sharing the details.
Kyle Losoya I Owner of Elite Fleet Party Buses
Our company has experienced significant growth since its inception in 2016. We have established ourselves as one of the most trustworthy party bus companies within the DFW metroplex. We find ourselves fortunate enough to be in a position where we are capable of contributing a portion of our profits back to local charities. Over the past year, we initiated a give back program which provides our customers with the opportunity to select from a list of 5 charities. We donate 5% of the profits from each rental to the charity selected by each customer.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Kyle Losoya I Owner of Elite Fleet Party Buses
Elite Fleet Party Buses has humble beginnings as a father and son business venture. We started the company with one party bus in 2016. Since then, we have steadily grown our fleet to five party buses in operation. We have the most luxurious and trendy party buses within the DFW Metroplex. We build the buses ourselves, which gives us the advantage of customizing each bus in a fashion that we know will impress our clients. We also pride ourselves on having the best customer service within the industry. This is verified with our rave customer reviews across multiple platforms including Google, Facebook and Yelp. Also, we place safety at the forefront of everything we do. Our drivers have many years of experience safely operating commercial vehicles. Our vehicles are inspected in detail prior to each rental. We also carry insurance coverage well above the minimum requirements as stated by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Kyle Losoya I Owner of Elite Fleet Party Buses
We were able to purchase our first bus at an auction with savings. We thought it was important to purchase our first bus with cash and avoid any debt in our early stages. We have consistently used this same approach for acquiring additional buses and have been debt free since our inception. Debt obligations can place significant stress on companies and force them to operate in a manner that does not align with their true mission. This has never been more true than during the covid-19 pandemic. We were fortunate to survive the slow periods of low revenue due to limited overhead expenses. We have taken the approach of slow steady growth. This has allowed us to optimize our business model without the pressure of straining debt which can force a business to shut down.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Kyle Losoya I Owner of Elite Fleet Party Buses
We built a strong social media presence on our own gradually over time. I had no prior experience with building a brand or social media following. The most important thing to keep in mind is that it will not happen over night. There are many tools available which have simplified the process of building a website or social media presence. There are many companies out there that advertise themselves as branding “experts.” While it is not wrong to hire someone for this, in the early stages of starting a business it is important to conserve capitol. My recommendation would be to do it yourself. No-one will ever care about your business as much as you do and ensuring your brand is represented in the manner you envision is vital. There is also a great sense of pride that comes with building something yourself.
