We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kyle Lee. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kyle below.
Kyle, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
I wish I would have started sooner as Fashion and Creativity has always been one of my passions. I started my brand in 2018 when I was in college, I finally decided to take the risk and get into the process of starting my business. After I started my business over the years I ventured into other areas of creativity such as Modeling, Photography, Creative Direction, etc. The only thing I would change about my Experience is starting sooner, I think I started at a great time but I feel as though starting sooner would have given me more of a head-start at my craft giving me more experience under my belt.
Kyle, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hey! My name is Kyle, I am an Entrepreneur & The owner of Koûteux, A Luxury Streetwear Brand. I got into Entrepreneurship in 2018 during College when I was discussing starting a brand and I realized how much I love fashion and always have. I sell a variety of products such as Clothing and Accessories, ranging from Shirts to Hoodies to Bags, I also provide Styling and other Creative Services as well. I think my brand sets me apart from others because it is unique, my products stand out and represent my creativity. I am most proud of how my brand has developed me as a whole and how far I have come. I want others to know that I want everyone to feel their best and comfortable wearing my pieces, I also want them to know that I work hard to bring my clients vision’s to life and will execute.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I would have to say seeing your vision come to life and executing at a high level. Sometime I feel as though I don’t see the bigger picture or concept, for example, I have a photoshoot vision, once I go through photos from the shoot, pick the best for edits, and then lastly retouch and edit. Seeing the final image vs the beginning brings me joy to see how creative I can be and how everything plays out and comes together even if I don’t see it at first.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I wish I had a better understanding and knowledge about manufactures and fabrics before I started my Creative Journey. I think it would have been beneficial to me to work and gain a relationship with one manufacture than working with different ones but I think I needed to go through this to find what works for me and to build a relationship with one I am confident knows my style. Also, when It comes to fabrics, I wish I would have took my textiles course before I started my brand and not after. I think this would have helped me with picking my fabric choices for my brand.
