Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kyle Leatherman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kyle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
You know at first I made music for fun. It was something to do when I was bored or something I did with my friends. I guess over time I started to use music to vent my emotions, writing about them over a good beat really worked for me – it still does.
I never took it seriously until one day something just popped and I locked in. I think it was heavily influenced by the issues I was dealing with at the time and my hope to make something better of myself. I went to work immediately on an album and a few months later I actually put out something that I was proud of. I hope to continue this streak and can’t wait to make the next one even better.

Kyle, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My artist name is Uta K. I got into music shortly after graduating highschool. It was really just something to do with my friends, but over time I ended up growing a passion for the creativity and art that comes with it. I love to tell my stories through music, I love venting my feelings and emotions through music. It really helps me clear my mind and I love the feeling and emotions that music can invoke to the listener. I like making jokes or telling life stories in my songs. Sometimes I concentrate too much on the lyrics but some people like that. I want to make a change in this world and I feel like the best way I can do that is by being myself and making the music I like to make.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The art that you make, the final product. Something you put so much time, dedication, and life into – and to see it all come together at the end always makes me feel proud. Sometimes I have to take a step back and say “wow, I did this!”
You can’t expect people to love your music but you can always be proud of the work you put in.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media has always been a struggle to me. I don’t like sharing my life, I don’t like posting or being active on social media. As an artist that isn’t a good trait to have.
I try to be as active as I can, but social media isn’t for everyone. I love living in the moment and enjoying what’s around me. I don’t need to show everyone what food I’m eating or where I’m at in that moment. Building my audience wasn’t easy by any means and I still have plenty of growing to do. If I had to give any advice id say post what you can – when you can. Don’t be afraid of what people think or how much engagement you will get. Post for the people who don’t know you and the new people who check out your page so they know who you are, what you do, and how you do it. I’m still learning myself.
