We recently connected with Kyle Kenny and have shared our conversation below.
Kyle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you share an important lesson you learned in a prior job that’s helped you in your career afterwards?
I enlisted in the USMC out of high school, then went on to become a chainsaw operator on a handcrew with the Department of Natural Resources in WA. State.
Those two experiences taught me really how to put my head down and go to work, embrace the suck, suck it up and keep going.
I still apply the same principles towards my fitness career today.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am first and foremost a Personal Trainer.
I’ve obtained a decade of experience and hold many certifications in my field with exercise science and nutrition.
I got into training based on my athletic background and racing as a sponsored triathlete for the better part of my 20’s.
This has helped me, help many individuals become more physically fit on a daily basis.
So many people struggle with accountability and lack of knowledge of what to do, and when to do it.
Thats where I’ll come in.
Teaching and coaching individuals on how they can adapt to their independent needs.
Everyone operates differently, especially in terms of diet and workouts.
I want people to know they can push themselves much farther then they think they can.
The human body is an incredible machine, and it takes a calliced mind in order to progress the reps.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Covid, 100%.
I was working at a big box gym with tens of thousands of members making it easily accessible to obtain new clients working as a trainer.
When the gyms shut down, so did the paychecks.
I had to begin working completely independent, trying to maintain a handful of clients on a regular basis.
I started my online business KennyTRY Training, and drove around the city Training clients in their living rooms.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
A business mindset, crucial in order to be a successful trainer.
I studied finance in college and used so many data points when I was racing triathlons for money.
I also obsess over my personal investment strategy.
Learning how to grow things in a numbers sense has helped me obtain a wonderful, plentiful clientele. Looking at everything from a monetization standpoint, and capitalizing on efficiency, where you make the most money, what costs the most and requires the most effort, how to double down clients and setup group trainings.
Operating with a capilistic mindset helped me grow revenue into the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
