Kyle, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Blt Kitchens is a shared Kitchen work space for startups to create and run their business. Anything from someone who wants to sell salsa at a farmers market to large scale catering companies are who rent from us. We offer kitchen time, space and resources to be successful. We have a full marketing / Sales department and they help create business for our renters as well. We realized that there was not a place for small businesses to grow and be able to make their dreams a reality. Blt Kitchens is not just a landlord we offer a business in a box solution for all of our tenants.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Blt Kitchens is a one stop shop for small business owners to start a food or beverage business. Offering better buying power with food and dry good distributors help our tenants make more profit. Our Sales Team makes it so our renters can be successful and booked for caterings and events.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
We started working out of another commissary and realized it was not set up to make the tenants successful but the landlord. Blt was created to do just that. Working out of the back of our restaurant over the years made us realize we needed more space to be successful.
Have you ever had to pivot?
This business came out of Covid. We bought the kitchen to grow our food truck and restaurant businesses. When Covid hit and everything came to a screeching halt we had to pivot our business. With having over 30 employees and no events for food trucks we needed to figure out a way to keep the employees working and business moving. Blt Kitchens was created!
