Hi Kylan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.

Oklahoma PrideFest is downtown OKC is one of the most rewarding experiences to date that I’ve ever been involved with! The 2SLTBQIA+ Community is entirely underserved and under resourced in Oklahoma. Providing a space yearly for us to come together in state like Oklahoma is powerful. It’s so humbling to see so many people show for support, love, and community!

Kylan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I’m going to relate this question to Oklahoma Pride Alliance.

Our pride festival is one that is so well-rounded. Not only do we have fun but we also provide safe spaces, resources, support for queer families and youth, and help people plug into their community, We like to say that PrideFest is suicide prevention and that’s 100% true because people find community and don’t feel alone.

Additionally, we are working to expand year round services for community, resources, advocacy, and more! So far we’ve add year-round programming for youth along with wellness programming in the way of community sport gatherings (volleyball, pickleball, walking groups, and soccer).

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect is when you see your work come to life in a way that supports the community. I love that feeling of when we put together PrideFest and people are packing out the park and all of that hard work is in front of you. You can also feel the warm energy created by this loving environment.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

Not just tolerance but full acceptance, visibility, and celebration for our community!
