Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kylah Cotharn. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kylah, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Since I was a very little girl, I was always singing and dancing picturing myself on tv. I just pictured myself being an entertainer, or in fashion. My favorite thing was watching American Idol and dancing in my mothers shoes, so it’s been a passion. As I got older I realized these dreams aren’t so far as I thought, so it became a goal. So I’m at the point where I see how easily these opportunities can come to me. I can now see myself really being a fashion model for a living.

Kylah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started to professionally pursue my modeling career around 17 years old. It was a rough start, I was still developing and finding my look. I took a lot of rejection, it wasn’t until my older years where people would actually consider me. The rejection discouraged me, I stopped modeling and went to college for a couple semesters. After realizing that wasn’t my route in the moment, I began working at my modeling career again a couple years later. But this time, I was ready. I got back on my modeling feet when I walked for The Model Experience at LAFW. It gave me my confidence back and the fire that I needed to keep pushing. I knew that I couldn’t give up. Being on that runway for the first time made me feel so alive, and noticed finally. This experience really inspires me to keep going, and to be a positive inspiration for young girls like me. A lot of young girls lack that positive influence in their lives, and I would love to be that person to ensure girls how smart and talented they are. To never give up on themselves or their dreams, no matter what obstacles come up. I want to inspire girls to be themselves and nothing more, that will take you so far in life. I plan to use my platform to spread positivity, and kindness. I want to be remembered for having a big heart and being a great leader for my supporters.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
What I love the most about being a fashion model is all of the people that I meet. I love that I now have friends/associates with the same passions and goals as me. It’s always good to share creative ideas with people and collaborate, you can come up with some of your best work. Aside from that I just really love to dress up, and glam. I’ve always been a glamorous girl so I love having the perfect excuse to always be a diva.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
For the most part, I just have fun with my social media. Especially instagram, I love posting my daily selfies, or something exciting and new from a Photoshoot. It’s like my own little project that I get to share with the world. The more I create, I look up and I have a whole collection of content. I love to share my modeling journey, especially for people who are still learning, I hope that it can be helpful. My advice for those people would be to just have fun with it, don’t stress yourself out about posting a million times a day.
