We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kyla Chika. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kyla below.
Kyla, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I originally conducted clinical, application and basic research for the past eight years in the realm of Biochemistry. But a year ago, God set me on a very different path. I have always been very big in my faith, and I was recently directed toward working in entertainment. There is something I have to say that has been very long silenced, and working in entertainment has given me an opportunity and platform to practice speaking my truth and using my voice. I first knew that I wanted to pursue my creative/artistic path professionally after I did it for a few months. I began to realize that my creative talents were really avenues I wanted to cultivate and share with others.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
There are a few things I currently do today. I am a singer, songwriter, vocal coach, director, producer, and actress. As I walked in obedience and dove headfirst into the entertainment industry, God began to open every single door I was able to walk into. People have often asked me, “how did you get this opportunity or that opportunity?” and to be quite honest, the Lord opened the door where someone thought about me, or saw my name, or saw me sing and reached out to me. I was hungry to understand where God wanted to take me more than I was interested in where I wanted to take myself. So out of the blue, I got my first opportunity to be featured on my first Lifetime Movie, and I surprisingly and by faith was also then able to co-direct and executively produce my first Music Video “Cuts”. There are more blessings, but for now I just want to highlight the importance of allowing God to direct your paths.
I successfully wrote my entire project called, “EyE’M” Processing, that is out on all streaming platforms right now. I did not know I was capable of doing all these things until God showed me. He wanted me to discover more about who I was and what He instilled inside of me. He showed me that I was more than just a Scientist, that I had more to offer. He showed me that I’m not just an entertainer either, but I’m a leader, a minister, a lover of people, and most importantly someone who represents HIM.
The type of services and creative works I provide are as follows:

I am a Recording Artist who values growth and pushing toward purpose. First, I became a Biochemist to change peoples lives. I then shifted to the entertainment industry to expand my reach and impact in another way. I value making music that is catchy, profound, and evokes emotion. I want my music to mean something. I am on a journey to make music that doesn’t just touch one genre but hits multiple industries and genres. I not only want to make a difference with my music, but I also want to impact people’s perspective with what I have to say. I make Life Music! Check me out on all platforms.
I am a songwriter and write music for other artists if they are in need of a songwriter.
I am also a Vocal Coach under my business KCU Impact Enterprises’ Vocal Elevation. I have been singing since I was six years old and have obtained 4 years of professional training in music and vocal performance. Our goal at KCU Impact Enterprises’ Vocal Elevation is to provide singers, aspiring singers, spoken word artists, and speakers an avenue to build a strong vocal and vocal performance foundation. The vocal coaching curriculum will include but not limited to breathing exercises, confidence development, warm-ups, enhancing vocal range, vocal-muscle workouts, homework, and assigned performances to test vocal flexibility and growth.
I am also a producer of concerts, events, and shows. I offer to help people establish the right teams for their events and ensure their events, concerts, and/or shows are done and well executed. A lot of times as an artist you are not able to concentrate solely on operating as the artist. I provide help in completing work and smaller very important details that allow for the artist to solely operate as the artist. For more information about this aspect of KCU Impact Enterprises please email me.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a creative is everyday discovering more about who I actually am. The moment you begin to walk down the road toward purpose and being uncomfortable, you begin to discover what you are capable of and who you were created to be. If you are always afraid to take a risk and get uncomfortable, you will miss out on what you were supposed to get and give to the world.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was to be perfect and always be in control. I had to shift my mindset to the reality that, “All things work together for the good of those who love the Lord, who are called according to His purpose”, and I mean all things. The good and the bad. I do my best, and then I leave space for God Room. I would always want everything to be perfect, and I would become worried and anxious because I didn’t want to look stupid or make the wrong choices. But what I have found is, mistakes are a part of the learning process, and they are also a huge part of your journey. In the end, it all still will work out for my good because what is mine will be mine.
