We were lucky to catch up with Kyla Morris recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kyla, thanks for joining us today. Do you have any thoughts about how to create a more inclusive workplace?
When starting our business in the wedding industry, we knew inclusivity was going to play a huge role in our day to day business. The traditional wedding industry often defaults to terms like ‘bride and groom,’ but we as a team make a conscious effort to use inclusive language such as ‘couples’ to ensure everyone feels represented. We also collaborated with members of the LGBTQIA+ community to craft an inclusivity statement that reflects their insights and experiences.
It’s so important in our industry to celebrate all love, in all its forms, and ensure that everyone feels seen and valued. My advice is to foster open conversations, educate your team on inclusivity, and let diverse voices shape your policies. A more inclusive workplace and service starts with the willingness to evolve.”
Kyla, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
In December of 2022, Kyla’s best friend Tatum was getting married to her now Husband with Kyla as one of her bridesmaids. Friends since high school, it was a no-brainer that Kyla would be by Tatum’s side on her big day. Another no-brainer was having Kyla capture all of the behind the scenes content of every party, dress appointment, & even some content on the big day. This is because Kyla has been a social media manager since 2016 & really has an eye for beautiful content & trends. After that day, the lightbulb went off & Kyla knew other couples would love wedding content as much as we did. The instant gratification, the trends, everything about it just fit. 48 hours later, I Do Crew was born.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Our best source of new clients has been social media, especially Instagram and TikTok. Around 90% of our bookings come from these platforms. Social media allows us to showcase our work, connect with potential clients, and engage with a community that shares our values. By sharing authentic, creative content and building a strong online presence, we’ve been able to reach couples who are looking for an inclusive and personalized wedding experience. It’s been an incredible tool for growing our business and forming meaningful connections.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
We’ve built our reputation within the market by focusing on three key areas: assembling a strong, dedicated team, fostering vendor partnerships, and staying consistent in everything we do. Our team has been essential in delivering high-quality service, and our relationships with vendors have allowed us to collaborate seamlessly and provide a well-rounded experience for our couples. No matter the challenges, we’ve stayed consistent in our values, our service, and our approach, which has helped us build trust and reliability. This consistency in our brand and work ethic has made us a dependable choice for couples in the wedding industry.
