We recently connected with Kyla Jackson and have shared our conversation below.
Kyla, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later?
In 2021, I came to the realization that going to art school and opening one but many business as I got older was what would be right for me. At first the dream was interior design, and while I’m that would be, in last few years I realized that that is just something I’d rather have a side gig. So in the fall I will be attending the Fashion Institute of Technology for 2 years as a fashion business major student and the hopefully the savannah college of interior design for 4 years after that in a similar field, most likely social strategies and management. Despite knowing what I wanted career wise, I didn’t start doing anything in any of the art fields as a temporary carrier leading up for the start of school- until 2023. Waiting a little over two years before i stated offering any services was (as I realized later) not ideal. Since it was late in 2023 that i started I’ve very little time so far to grow my brand and get my name out there. Looking back, I think I would have started to at least talk more about the possibility of starting my brand, and talk about getting tips on what people wanted to see, in order to make building an audience easier for myself.

Kyla, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I first got into the arts when I was very young, probably around 5 or 6. I always loved painting, making glitter crafts, and so on. As I got older my specific interest started to become more prominent. Interior Design, Fashion and Social Media Marketing become my favorites around, 2020. I want clients, followers, and other brands and creators to know how much I love fashion, art, motorsports and so much more. I want people to hear and see about the causes I support. I think what sets me apart from others is my passion, ambitions and my transparency. I am always being as honest, clear, thoughtful, kind and helpful as I can be – and in these industry’s that’s something I think people are always looking for. Currently I offer personal style bundles and styling advice, brand ambassadorships/partnerships, paid brand deals/promotions, reviews, and more – all offered from my personal Instagram and business Instagram.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I have very specific dreams and goals that drive my creative journey, from wanting to inspire others to be creative all the way to opening up full fledge business with stores, models, and staff. Currently what I am focusing on most is the idea of becoming a celebrity stylist and formula one ambassador!
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
As someone who was so unsure where to start, mainly in how to grow an audience, youtube videos, TikTok’s, just spending a lot of time researching how others did it was SO helpful. I also read a lot of self help and mindfulness books so that I could understand how I feel before trying to understand what others would like to see and feel through my brand.
