We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kyla Hinkle a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kyla, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you manage your own social media?
I think it can be extremely beneficial to outsource your social media game plan. While, I have learned to do it myself, I can see the disconnect between working IN your business and within your craft versus working ON your business ( i.e socials). Social media is more than just posting each day. It’s understanding your audience, it’s connecting with a community, and it’s making your offers known in educational, entertaining, and empowering ways. I want to be the one to relieve you from the stressors of trying to understand and manage your social media so that you can be focused on what your business has to offer.
If you are asking yourself whether you should manage your social media yourself or outsource and have someone else do it first ask yourself this question. What are your business goals? Is your goal to understand social media more and get creative in posting? Then your answer might be to begin learning social media yourself! It can truly be fun to create your own page and build your own community.
If your goal is to increase, profits, increase clients or increase sales, then you might find better success in outsourcing your social media. Hiring an expert to market your business via social media might get you the results that you’re looking for without having to take the time out of your daily tasks to learn, and understand the nature of socials!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started my jewelry business in 2020 making clay earrings called Peachy Pairs, and with that I began educating myself on how to use social media as a tool to grow my business. In the last three years, I have been able to grow a tremendously supportive community of people through Instagram. Since then began helping other small businesses with their Instagram as well. To me, social media is incredibly inspiring. I feel so passionate towards growing and creating a supportive community of people who know and understand one’s brand, and I find it to be extremely fulfilling, helping other small businesses find the same success on social media. I understand that social media can be confusing, annoying, and usually at the bottom of one’s task list when it comes to running your business and that’s why I love helping others in growing and creating their own platforms. Social media is a free tool that I think has the potential to scale and grow anyone’s business with the right approach and mindset and I absolutely love being able to share my knowledge and expertise in ways that help other small businesses hit their goals.

How did you build your audience on social media?
My number one tip for building your social media from the ground up is to show up authentically. while, it is great to get inspiration from other posts and business owners, you will find more success and more happiness in marketing yourself as true and honest as you can be. You don’t have to always have a full face of make up on, you don’t always have to have the perfect outfit, you don’t always have to have the perfect lighting or the perfect set up to begin posting. Whatever you’re doing right now is exactly what people want to see. Your ideal audience is out there and they are scrolling Instagram whether you are posting about your services or your product or not, and that is where I think you have the potential to grow and build your own community.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Social media has the potential to help you build your clientele and build up your reputation simultaneously. Think about it, when you are scrolling on social media and you click on someone’s profile what are you looking at, what is their profile picture look like what is their name what’s in their bio? What kind of posts do you tap on to get to know a little bit more about their business. These are all things that you can be applying to your own business, I like to post keeping in mind my ideal Client is out there somewhere scrolling and viewing my posts. I want my offers to be clear I want my voice to be heard, And I want my brand to be recognizable. And whatever that means To you is different for each business. How do you want people to feel when they come across your brand? Whatever it is, it can be achieved using social media.
