We were lucky to catch up with Kyglam Beauty recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kyglam , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
The beauty of this industry is you can learn from the comfort of your own home. There’s a lot of help out there from different style. We love learning from online and also hands on. Usually the artist we love always live in other states. We would love to start traveling to take classes in differently cities to bios up our craft and just learn as much as we can.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Since we were little we both loved dressing up and we’d pretend we were famous artist singing in front of the mirror. Eventually, we began to get involved in the art world.. Ysabel would sing and Karla would draw plus was amazing at soccer (which to us that’s considered art because you are using your brain to create a play and using your legs to create a masterpiece). We ended up realizing we loved art. As time went on we realized no matter what we did in our careers as time would go by, artistry was something we could never let go of. Seeing a makeup post about bride looking for a makeup and hair artist grew so much curiosity. Like what if we did that? We’ll thankfully we landed our first job then came another one and so forth. We would consider ourselves self taught. We always make sure to follow our state policies such as sanitation and restrictions. We are always up to date on new products and investing in our business. We also love to just grow friendships through our art. We’d have clients that eventually would become our friends that lead to awesome coffee dates and great memories. I think what sets us a part is that we take every client like a brand canvas. We are able to use our creativity to create art and make them feel beautiful. Of course we are not perfect and we always make sure the client is happy which will eventually leave us satisfied as well.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Our mission and goal is to one day be able to be an example for young mothers. A lot of moms work super hard day to night. We’d love to set the example that you can find a career that can give you flexibility, financial stability and that you can spend time with your family. We are working our way their and hopefully one day we can give those resources to help make it easier for others.
Have you ever had to pivot?
We always get asked “Is this all you do?” As if it wasn’t a whole business we are running over here. I mean we are customer service, the accountants, we supply the products, service and we also have a whole other job at home by being wives and mothers. There was a time when we had to give up jobs because it would be overwhelming for us since like we mentioned, we have other responsibilities too. There are times when you can put too much on your plate. The last thing we’d ever want is to look at our career as a bother or like a drag. We try our best to not let us get to that point again and just take it day by day.
