We recently connected with Kyesha Williams and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kyesha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I have not been a W2 employee in over 2 years. I was kinda forced out of that position and into this one as a self employed independent contractor. My last employer would not cover maternity pay or even short term disability after I gave birth to my daughter. So I made the decision to study for my Real Estate License and haven’t looked back. Doing this is not new to me however. Since I was a kid I knew that I had to take a risk in life to get where I wanted to be. With that being said I’ve had multiple businesses and quit my job many times to work full time for myself. Some ideas did better than others, but I never gave up and knew that eventually if I continued to throw pasta at the wall, something was bound to stick! I come from humble beginnings. I made a decision that if I wanted to live my dreams out in real life then I would have to do things differently than the people I surrounded myself with.
As I got older I realized that we have a choice of who we spend our time with. We have a choice of what we decide to do with ourselves despite your current circumstances. When I first started my healing journey I found myself broke and broken. Me and my kids ended up sleeping in my sister’s spare bedroom before I made a crazy decision to leave town for a while before returning and moving in with my mom. I had a decent job once I got back and started to find myself again. But that hunger of having independence never left me. I made myself believe that I had endless possibilities around me and if people in the magazines, television, or even social media became something out of nothing it was definitely possible for me too. I still believe this with my whole heart.
I started to release anxiety and fear, I started to listen to high vibrational music and meditate on a regular basis. I started feeling good about myself. I used to self sabotage myself whenever I would gain a little traction in my business. It was the worst thing I could do. I can honestly say that I used to be afraid of my own success. Like I was afraid of the responsibility that came with it and how I would handle it, maybe I felt like I would get a bunch of money and blow it just to be broke again, to be embarrassed by how others viewed me, to understand that I wanted it and deserve it more than ever. Something clicked in my brain that made me realize I was my biggest downfall and that had to change.
My first year in Real Estate I made almost 3x the sales the average agent does his first year independently not being a part of a team getting handed leads. I wouldn’t have had that success if I had not taken that risk of NOW or NEVER. I became comfortable living uncomfortable. I set the trends of so many people around me and because of that I know this is just the beginning.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
My name is Kyesha Williams and I am the founder of Hennepin County Lifestyle – A strong tribe of Hennepin County residents who get weekly information about the best events, restaurants, shopping, activities, and real estate in and around Hennepin County, Minnesota. Plus, the best hiking, biking, health and wellness options, new hot spots, and more!
I also work with individuals making a transition in their lives to buy or sell real estate in Hennepin County while wishing to achieve their success through a smooth and fulfilling experience.
With my entrepreneurial experience spanning for over 20 years, I prides myself on having helped children create wealth and empowering them to be entrepreneurs. These experiences have uniquely sharpened my business acumen and strong analytical skills that are a haven for my clients.
The start of Hennepin County Lifestyle was simply because I’ve never been good at fitting into a crowd. I needed to do something that other Realtors ® were not willing to do in their business. Even though our business is built solely on connections most agents just let that phrase go right over their heads! I believe in the power of Community and how it takes a village to gain success. My success is only as good as the great people around me.
Helping people throughout real estate transactions could be complex and challenging, especially to new clients, but I strive to make the processes easy, fun, and hassle-free which makes me so proud and drives everything I do!
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective way for growing my clientele from day one has been social media. Specifically Facebook for me which is where most of my sphere has been. I didn’t do crazy TikTok videos dancing or lip singing (even though I have some of those) Instead I would hop in messenger and start a conversation, I would do a live video a couple times a week because facebook likes to push those out and notify your friends on your behalf which increased analytics. 90% of my clients have come from social media. Instagram is good too. My IG has been pretty slow lately but that doesn’t stop Realtors from other states reaching out to hand me a referral finding me from the hashtags I use such as #MNREALTOR or #MINNEAPOLISREALESTATE in almost every post. Another great source is Youtube. I’ve honestly attracted other agents or aspiring agents through my youtube videos vs clients but since then I’ve decided to start a second channel for community, buyer, and sellers.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I keep in touch with clients by calling, or shooting a text at least once every couple of months. It’s funny because I tell them that they can never get rid of me and they are stuck with me for life! My clients become family, so I make sure to check in on birthdays and holidays and I absolutely love to send gifts. Because my clients and myself become so close they have no problem with vouching for me, sharing my post, or sending me a referral.
