We recently connected with Kyerra Collins and have shared our conversation below.

Kyerra, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?

A lot of people measure their success by the public’s view. Now while that could definitely play a big part, being successful is much more than that. Sometimes we can be our own biggest critics and don’t take the time to pat ourselves on the back. I myself am guilty of this exact thing. Looking at others in my field and thinking I’m not where I should be, when in all reality I have been making so many strides in my journey of Lovely Looks! To achieve success I feel a person should be putting their heart and soul into their passion. Making sure you take that extra mile to ensure you receive the outcome you’ve been working towards. Success doesn’t happen overnight it’s a process that takes dedication and sacrifice. You may get tired or overwhelmed or even feel like it hasn’t been paying off, but when you want something bad enough you’ll be able to push through all of those negative thoughts, and in the end you’ll feel more than successful.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Hi, I’m Kyerra of Lovely Looks. A local braider that offers a variety of services. I like to think of myself as “the neighborhood stylist” , you know the type of stylist where you can come and unwind. A safe space where you can relax while receiving the style of your choice. I’ve been in the field for a couple years and got my start in a salon. While there I learned a lot about the business and how to properly service a client. From there I took what I learned along with own knowledge of how I wanted to run my business and ventured off into my Lovely Looks journey. Servicing adults and children I pride myself on offering excellent services at even better prices. At Lovely Looks all supplies are included, all you have to do is book and show up! What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

My personality has played a major role in my reputation. I’m very personable as well as relatable. I once had job where their mission was “making well being the standard” and that stuck with me. We should all be treating people with care and respect. In the field of customer service this is extremely important. Consumers are paying you for a service yes but along with that service comes the way you treat that person. When my clients book with me they know that they are going to be treated with upmost respect ensuring that they’re comfortable in my space. The one thing someone could tell you about Kyerra is that I am very welcoming I do best to make sure everyone that crosses my path experiences genuine kindness.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

In the field of hair, word of mouth is always the best for new clientele. By providing my clients with excellent services that cause for those same clients to tell friends, family and even strangers that inquire about their hair about me. I do post promotional videos on social media just to get my work out into the world and while that has had some great results, my regulars spreading the word about Lovely Looks has caused for a surplus of new clientele which leads to more regulars being added to the Lovely Looks family !
