Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kyera Kacey . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kyera , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
I love sharing this story because most online coaches are trying so hard to close a client, and this story is a great reminder that our work was never meant to be or feel forceful. In December 2019, I hired my first business coach. It was a $20K investment that I went back into debt for, and after two months of working with my mentor, I closed my first client at $2,500, (now my private mentorship is a 5-6 figure investment). Prior to closing my first client, I was doing all the things. Sales calls, strategic posting, following up in the DMs, etc. I wasn’t enjoying myself. I felt like I was a machine trying versus a human living. Anyway, one day I went for a run, and running for me is always therapeutic. It’s a time when I can clear my head. When I got back from that run, I felt inspired to go live for International Women’s Day to share a message from my heart. I had no agenda to sell, promote, or pitch. My hair was a mess, my face was red, I had no makeup on, I was sweaty and wearing a baggy gray sweatshirt. Just like that I pressed live and spoke from my heart. Afterward, a woman reached out asking if I take 1:1 clients, and she signed on to work with me. People are looking to invest in heart and authenticity, not perfection.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Having taken myself from debt to creating a 7-figure business, I’m an author, psychic, and business energetic mentor liberating women around the globe in life and business, and I recently branded myself as The Naked Coach.
The Naked Coach is all about leading with self-expression, integrity, and transparency. Naked for some might mean being fully clothed, for others, it might mean something else. Regardless, being naked is about allowing our life and business to be an authentic expression and extension of who we truly are.
I got into the personal development world early, at age 17. Eleven years ago, at 24 years old, I rented an office and began taking on clients after my 9-5 (I worked at a law firm) knowing that healing and transformation were my life’s work.
In 2016 I went through an unexpected divorce, and it was quite literally the beginning of the end. I wasn’t just heartbroken, I was in debt and unable to afford my mortgage. During that time, I discovered a deep calling to change my financial circumstances so that I could then help other women do the same. But first, I had to heal. Once I overcame my divorce, I moved my business online and began working with other women who were going through a divorce. I knew I couldn’t teach money when I was still in debt, but I hired a mentor and began learning how to start and scale an online business. Eventually, women were organically reaching out asking me how I was getting clients, and slowly I began to pivot my business into business coaching, teaching them everything I had learned while using my psychic gifts to support soul alignment in business.
What I’m most proud of is creating a successful coaching business by listening to my intuition – which often meant breaking the rules and doing things my way. I’m now hosting international retreats in Ireland and Tulum, and I’m loving the in-person experiences.
What sets me apart from others? There’s no one else in the world who is me, and that’s not just my superpower, it’s every woman’s superpower who understands how uniquely gifted and rare she is. If you don’t understand that about yourself, you’ll spend a lot of time comparing and believing there’s competition that exists outside of you – there’s not.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I know who I am, and I know my purpose. This point is relevant to growing your clientele because when you know who you are, you’re not trying to convince people of what you bring to the industry, you’re already sold on your impact. So when I go live, I’m incredibly comfortable. I’m me. There’s no separation between what people see online and what people get in real life, and being able to bring authenticity and self-expression into my work allows people to trust me. And people want to work with those they can trust.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Resilience is our capacity to recover quickly from difficulties, and I find it to be a skill set, not a card we are dealt. Whatever we practice we get good at, and I’ve had years of practicing how to self-regulate. Here’s the thing, we’ve all experienced injustice and pain. At 15 years old I was raped by three guys. At 17 years old, I got into personal development – attending weekend seminars (I was always the youngest person there), and at 19 years old, still attending seminars, I overcame that experience in my life in one moment. In one simple, yet profound moment, I decided I was no longer going to be a victim of my circumstances. I am free in ways that I wish for other women to experience and be free. I, like most people who have gone through trauma, would be within my rights to justify never overcoming, never forgiving, and never letting the pain of my past go. We can all justify our pain. In fact, it’s common to do so. However, holding onto the past is costly, and I became unwilling to pay the price. I also love standing for what’s possible. Healing can happen in one moment, from one choice. And we all deserve liberation.
