We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kyam. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kyam below.
Kyam, appreciate you joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
When I first had the idea to create a podcast, it was just for me and my cousins. We always talked about sports and I wanted to bring that conversation to the world. I was pretty nervous about putting our opinions out for public consumption. I had my doubts about not being entertaining or just not covering topics people wanted to hear.
Despite my fears, I decided it was a risk worth taking. I set my living room up for my cousins and I to shoot our first show on IG Live.
Ever since 2016 I’ve been doing the podcast and making connections. One of the best decisions I ever made.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Kyam, I am the host of “The Occasional Hoopers “ podcast.
On the podcast we have a great time discussing sports, music and current events.
I’ve interviewed creatives from all walks of life, giving them an Opportunity to expose others to their craft while also expressing their fandom in a comfortable space.
We are on Apple Podcasts, Spotify , and YouTube. (The Occasional Hoopers).
Podcasting is my passion and I’m excited to continue this journey. I’m always open to having new guest on the show and collaborating with podcasters of all topics. Hopefully you will be willing give us a listen and possibly be my next guest!
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
The best way to support creatives is by spreading the word. Listening is always great, yet there are others that maybe unfamiliar with a creatives work. So if you want to help them grow, just spread the word. It’s always a plus to leave a review, comment or like and subscribe to their page.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is to be able to give support to kids. I want the occasional hoopers to give to those young creatives so that they have the proper tools to become successful. Words of encouragement are great, yet tangible objects can make a difference for those in the beginning stages.
So as the podcast grows and becomes more successful, The Occasional Hoopers would like to shine a light on young creatives so that they can be supported by our listeners and others.
