Ky, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
The first step of being successful is deciding what it is that you want in life. It needs to be something that is clear, specific and achievable. Once you know what it is that you want, you need to create a plan to get there.
I live my life by the saying ODAAT “One Day At A Time.” It’s all about breaking your goals into daily habits and doing the work consistently every day. The hardest part is just getting started. If you just keep doing the work consistently every day I guarantee that you will be successful as long as you don’t quit. There will be many obstacles along the way and if you just keep going you will get there. It’s not a matter of if you will be successful, it’s just a matter of when.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Ky Logue. I’m a Real Estate Investor, Wholesaler and Entrepreneur. I’ve been an entrepreneur for almost a decade now. I had a few different businesses over the years, some that were successful and I was able to sell the business and others were complete failures that wasted time and money. In both scenarios I learned a lot of valuable lessons that have helped me both in business and in life. Once I found out about real estate wholesaling I went all in on building my real estate business.
I am living proof that anyone can be successful if they know what they want and are willing to do the work one day at a time. I went from being an abused kid that was homeless as a teenager, living in group homes and juvenile halls to becoming a successful entrepreneur. My greatest strength is my persistence and I’ve built that strength by getting beat up by life over and over again until I decided enough was enough, and decided to get what I want in life. Every day my goal is to become the best version of myself by focusing on just winning today. I believe if you can win today, tomorrow will take care of itself.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my social media presence by literally just posting every day. It was hard at first but it got easier over time. When I really started to get traction was opening up and sharing what’s going on in my business. Some of my best videos are literally just live recordings of me making cold calls in my business. Most people make the mistake of trying to make everything perfect before they start but the secret is to just get started.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I became an entrepreneur when I was 24 after getting fired from my job at an insurance company. I made the decision to never work for someone else again. Everyone around me thought I was crazy, looking back they might have been right. I had no idea how to start a business or be self employed and I didn’t even know of anyone that was.
I learned how to apply ODAAT in business by getting punched in the face over and over again. I went through a few different businesses that failed about as quickly as I started them. One of the business ideas was to start a snow removal company. After using all the money I had from my last paycheck to buy snow blowers and shovels, we had one of the only winters in New England that I can remember that barely got any snow. Another one was a weed growing operation in my attic which didn’t work out because the only weed grower I knew never delivered the plants he was supposed to bring after I bought all of the equipment I needed to get started. There were a couple more failed attempts and I finally ended up starting a consulting business.
Fast forward 5 months later and I still hadn’t closed a single sale. To say I was completely overwhelmed would be an understatement. I had already sold everything I owned including my car and I didn’t have any money left and the bills were piling up. On top of that I had my friend Zack working with me that I had convinced to leave his job and he was in a worse situation than I was.
I kept worrying about the future, and I needed to get away so I started driving aimlessly, wanting so badly to quit but I couldn’t because I had people counting on me. I was stressed to the max and then I remembered ODAAT. I thought about it for a while and I finally decided that I am going to make it work or die trying.
The next day when I went back to work I gave my permission to just focus on today. I stopped thinking about all the days before that we didn’t close any deals, I stopped thinking that we already called through the only list we had multiple times and I just focused on what I could do that day.
I kept the ODAAT mindset for the next few days late and then IT HAPPENED. I hang up the phone, I look over at Zack and he is staring at me in complete disbelief. “Did you just close that one?” Zack asked. I nodded my head and we lost it. We are literally jumping up and down in my basement, yelling and banging on our chests. You would have thought we just won the superbowl. I was feeling great and confident AF so I told Zack to give me the lead he talked to earlier and couldn’t close. I called the lead up and closed that one too.
We reinvested all of the money besides our rent, into marketing and finally had new leads coming in and the rest was history. To this day whenever I get stuck, down or frustrated I implement ODAAT. I focus on today and tomorrow takes care of itself
