We were lucky to catch up with Kxng Jacob recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi KXNG , thanks for joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I learn the art of creating a song by watching Micheal Jacson, NWA, Biggie Smalls, Jodeci. The list goes on. I don’t think I could have learned my usage of syllables and vocal range without them honestly. I grew up singing in our church choir which taught me a lot. Not having the technology that we have today to create from our homes.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got into the industry by reading how to get into the industry. Lol, all jokes aside, I started out when I was in college. I was introduced to a few guys who wanted to start a band and they had a audio engineer who I worked with outside of being apart of the band. We made a bunch of music for the college radio station. We were broke and didn’t really have the funds to do anything major so we studied on how to get anything we needed.
Fast forward 2023, I started KXNGJacob LLC to provide live venue performance and merchandise sales. I toured to a few different places across the country and got to be a part of a few major events.
Last year I had to take a step back due to my daughter have a health condition so I really had to focus on her.
Now that she is doing fine, I have more time to focus on music and I have a few projects that my daughter will help me with. She about to be seventeen and entering into her senior year of high school. I’m most proud of her, but music wise I released and EP at Anthem Music Enterprises called ROTATION. I went with AME because I wanted to make an RnB album and that is their wheel house. They have a extraordinary writer/engineer/music artist who goes by Merch. I call him the magician because he makes magic happen every time he touches a song.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding thing about being an artist is the finished product. Rick Ruban said it the best. He said “we as artist make music for ourselves and inturn share it with the world.” I can agree that my music was definitely to help me heal after going through a divorce. I had raw emotions which translates very well through songs. Basically, I had something I needed to get off my chest.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I like most artists had to use social media to reach an audience. I posted many videos and shared a lot of funny ones. Fun fact about me is, I was a comedian before I did music so it allowed me to be very confident and comfortable on stage, so making funny videos was one way I chose to go. I eventually had to hire a social media management company call EDST which handles a huge bulk of getting my content out there.
