We recently connected with Kwaku Sefah and have shared our conversation below.
Kwaku, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
I grew up in a family house in West Africa, Ghana and my aunty and grandpa took care of me and my siblings. One thing they did right was to instill the love of God in us and also the power to be content with what we have and also the power to be selfless because at some point in time, we had experience having nothing and now experience having what we didn’t have when growing up.
I was taught to always appreciate the good because in every bad situation, there is a good or hope that arises from it. This mindset has helped me a lot to grow and to give praise to God in any situation.
Kwaku, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am originally from Ghana, moved to the US in 2010. I pursued my US citizenship and obtained this in 2017. My personal fitness and nutrition journey began with a very intense inspiration from my older brother Kwame, who competed in Physique bodybuilding. I completed my bachelor’s in electrical engineering from University of Minnesota December 2015 and met some local members of a gym in Washington State who really helped me compete in my first show.
Winning my Pro card in the WNBF federation in Physique that year was an amazing feat. After a move to St Louis, Missouri, I continued to focus in nutrition and physique sculpting in order to compete in the highly prestigious Natural Federation the NANBF and obtained my IPE Pro-card in Classic Physique and Bodybuilding in the same show in 2018. I continued to compete that fall in my first IPE Worlds Pro show in men’s bodybuilding taking an impressive 4th place in my first Pro-Showing over several impressive competitors.
At present and since the last show, I undertook volunteering for several organizations, including Big Brother of STL. I am always training and improving my physique; and learning more about how to coach and prepare nutrition plans for personal clients and that has really improved their lives and met their goals.
Mind Body Optimize Fitness grew from my observations and feedback into my vision for helping and addressing the needs for all clients, leading from my core values. Doing this led me to become the new face and promoter for the NANBF organization. I was able to promote the Tucson Multiverse Natural bodybuilding show in Tucson Arizona on Nov 11, 2023. This show was successful as all the athletes or competitors gave positive reviews and are looking forward to competing again next year. Due to this success, I will be promoting another show in Scottsdale next year called Arizona Battle of the Muscleverse which will be hosted on August 17, 2024. My clients/competitors know that they are the foundation for every successful event so I always thank them and involve the spectators as well because without them, there wouldn’t be any competition.
My passion for Natural Bodybuilding grows each day as I work hard to encourage and motivate young individual athletes and clients to pursue natural bodybuilding by all means possible.
Jesus Christ has been a great help to my achievement and pray that he continues to guide my ways as I pursue this new journey. I’m proud to be a new promoter for NANBF!

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
If I had the opportunity to go back in time, I will not change this profession because I love changing lives. A goal of my in life is going out there and changing lives being it in fitness and health or other professions. I get to do this in fitness and wellness and I am truly grateful for that.
I have had the opportunity to change so many clients lives battling a lot of illnesses and poor health to becoming healthy for themselves and their families which in turn changes their whole dynamic and perspective in life. Now, that is something I love to see; a dynamic change that changes the live of your client and their whole family and surroundings as well.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
I will say being SELFLESS! This is one of my greatest core values and I live by it. My goal is to change lives one step at a time as many people as possible and that requires me to look far beyond self gain.
