We were lucky to catch up with Kwabena Smith recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, KWABENA thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you feel you or your work has ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized? If so, tell us the story and how/why it happened and if there are any interesting learnings or insights you took from the experience?
yeah going against the average sound and the average way of creating. being able to access my imagination beyond while other cant or dont try to.
KWABENA, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve always been a dancer and made music but took it seriously during high school and after high school. i created my own sound and style and went beyond. Used my imagination. i aslo went on business mode for my creative works. sold CD did free shows. Then just never stopped faced all types of challenges. had to work to get to studios and buy beats not getting paid the way i needed going through the struggle of poverty but never quitting. and just went beyond and never stopped.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
