Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kurt Hines. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kurt, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We love heartwarming stories – do you have a heartwarming story from your career to share?
For me, coaching (and all of life for that matter), it’s all about relationships!
As the Head Coach of the Coronado High School football program I have the opportunity each and every day to impact and empower so many people in different ways.
For me, coaching is all about winning! And I’m not talking about just on the scoreboard. Yes, that matters, and we all want to be victorious, but I’m talking about winning the hearts of the young men and women I am blessed to coach, and helping them to achieve, and to be more than you could ever imagine on and off the field!

Kurt, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am currently heading into my sixth year as head coach here in Coronado, and my 26th year overall coaching high school football.
I started on the East Coast where my wife and I raised our four children, and was the head coach at Bedford high school for the last seven years prior to moving out to San Diego to be closer to our grandson.
In addition to Coaching high school football, I have also taught elementary school for the past 28 years and I’m currently teaching at Christian Elementary School in El Cajon.
My wife and I have four children, and two grandsons, absolutely love the lives we have been blessed to live!

If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
If I could go back and start all over again, I would 100% still be a teacher and coach! As I mentioned earlier, life is all about relationships, and there’s no better platform to bless and empower so many amazing individuals.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
People skills.
The old saying; “People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care” has never been more true. The world is overpopulated with knowledgeable people, yet lacking in people who have compassion and desire to selflessly serve others!
