We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kuron Franklin & Tony Jenkins a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kuron & Tony, thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Recently, we hosted a Down2Talk event called “Let’s Talk About It”, where we brought out artists and vendors we collaborated with to engage more with the community.
The “Let’s Talk About It” event is the most meaningful project, to date, because back when we were discussing ideas in a pizza shop, this type of project seemed unreachable to us at the time.
Kuron, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Down2Talk is a talk show platform based in Houston, Tx that specializes in people’s talents, testimonies and dreams. We collaborate with talent across the United States, highlighting their experiences and journey in their respective industries, giving them a platform to share with the community.
Down2Talk started off as conversations in the gym about our life and figuring out how these conversations could help others. Eventually, this led to the decision of creating a platform for these discussions to not only let the community know they’re not alone, but to also emphasize the artistry of hard work and where it can lead.
Down2Talk has been around for around 3 years and counting, collecting memories with countless talented individuals. This has attributed to the growth of our platform more than anything, while anticipating the potential that’s still to come, making it one of our proudest accomplishments.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Our motto on Down2Talk is “changing the world, one conversation at a time”.
We use this as our compass to explore new experiences and ask the right questions. Ultimately, Down2Talk serves to project to the world that an open discussion has more power than people might think.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Seeing the reactions on our special guests faces when they see the finished version of our collaboration. This in itself is one of the most rewarding aspects, as it shows just how important a testimony is and what it can accomplish across the world.
