Kundanika, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear your thoughts about family businesses.
Managing family business is the most challenging endeavor one can undertake but it is exciting at the same time. I started getting involved in our family businesses since the age of 13. The passion to run a business runs in my family since decades. My grandfather established a hotel in Kashmir in 1984, my dad initiated his leather factory in Delhi in 1993, my mom set up her educational institute and nursery in UAE in 2007, and that’s when I developed an interest for business as well. I was actively engaged in promoting our nurseries while completing my education. We also set up a restaurant in UAE in 2015. The immense amount of experience I have gained from running my family businesses could not have been achievable in any traditional firm. Family business demands 100% investment of time and effort, but the amount of contentment is just beyond words.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
I possess a multitude of interests and strengths. I am an Architectural Engineer, then got into managing my family businesses of nurseries and restaurant. Currently, I am completing my education to become a Landscape Architect.
Back when I was running my family’s restaurant, I realized the confined and false bubble of social media that we are living in. These days a business’s popularity is increased through marketing, and it’s social media presence. That’s when I started my own blog to offer genuine ratings and reviews for businesses around the world. Being a designer and traveler, I love offering my fresh insight into the local businesses to the community. My blog mainly provides travel guides and information on well-known food joints.
I have always been a strong believer of the fact that it is not always important to discover or invent unique concepts, but what really matters for success is to execute the job in an effective and efficient manner. This is the mantra I follow each day! My work as a blogger is sincere to the brands and to the follower community.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Enhancing quality would be the most effective strategy for growing clientele. Regular customers notice quality and customer service very closely, and can identify situations when any of these get negatively affected. Building a relationship of trust with patrons takes time, but what is more important is continuously maintaining that connection. As one should keep on growing the quality of their products and services, it is equally important to analyze the dynamic nature of the clients. Understanding the demands of the market will certainly help any business recognize the most efficient growth strategies.
How did you build your audience on social media?
The most time-consuming and difficult task is to build an audience on social media. These days there are many alternate routes one can come across while trying to achieve this. But in order to be true to yourself and to your followers, such shortcuts should be avoided. When I started building the audience on my blog, I was not worried about the follower count, instead the quality of my followers. I post genuine content, in order to offer meaningful information to my audience. This is how I know that my followers trust my work!
