Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ksenia Mohur. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ksenia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
I’ve been in the lash and brow industry for about 9 years — starting in Ukraine and continuing in the U.S. Back home, I went from working at home and in salons to eventually opening my own small studio, which I ran for four years. It was a space I built with care and trust.
When the war started, I had to leave. At that time, someone I cared about encouraged me to try building a life together in the U.S., so I decided to take the step. I didn’t have big plans — I just wanted to survive, maybe find work in a salon, and keep supporting my studio team back in Ukraine.
But something didn’t feel right. I couldn’t do my work the way I believed in. There were moments I cried between clients — not because of physical stress, but because I felt disconnected from myself.
Eventually, I had to choose: either stay in that emptiness or take a real risk.
I had $1000, a small base of clients, and the plan to raise my prices, which added even more pressure. I found a little space for rent, and the landlord asked me: “Do you even have clients? Are you sure you’ll be able to pay?”
I told him yes — even though deep down, I was scared. The deposit was more than I had, but I committed anyway.
He said yes. He gave me a chance — and I’ll never forget that moment. It was the first time someone in a new country truly believed in me.
That’s how I launched MOKA Lash Brow. I focused on what I knew best: adaptive lash extensions that preserve and improve the health of natural lashes, and real brow recovery procedures.
Slowly, women started to notice. Their lashes weren’t damaged anymore. Their brows began to grow back.
Now, I’m not only growing my studio — I’m developing my own product line for lash artists. I want to create tools that are easy for artists and comfortable for clients. In the future, I also plan to launch recovery products for brows and lashes.
This risk — leaving everything, trusting myself with almost nothing — brought me to where I am now. And I’m proud I took it.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started my journey in this field when I was still at university. I needed a way to earn my own money and independence. I had a part-time job in retail, but I didn’t enjoy it at all. So I started searching — trying different options — until I came across lash and brow services. I decided to start with lash extensions.
As I worked and learned, I began to notice that my approach wasn’t the same as others. I wanted to go deeper. I started searching for mentors who aligned with my values — and that’s how I discovered adaptive lash techniques. Eventually, I also began working on real brow restoration because I saw how often women struggled with damage caused by standard methods.
What makes my work different is that I don’t try to change women — I work to reveal their natural beauty and individuality.
I don’t follow a one-size-fits-all chart. Every lash is placed based on its growth phase. Each client gets a customized look — one that feels like them, not a copy of someone else.
My goal is to create a fresh, effortless, and naturally enhanced appearance — the kind that makes people look twice and wonder: “Are those her real lashes?”
Not because they’re overly dramatic — but because the overall image is so harmonious, so alive.
I also help women save time. With my technique, they wake up looking expressive, rested, and confident — without the need for daily makeup. It’s about empowering them to love themselves as they are, not hiding behind a mask.
At MOKA Lash Brow, the experience is more than a service. I want women to feel relaxed, cared for, and seen. Every visit is personal. If something needs adjusting — I’ll always make it right.
That’s how trust grows. That’s how real beauty work happens.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Yes — and right now I’m at the very beginning of scaling it further.
I started lashing while studying at university, just trying to make some extra money. Over time, it became clear that this wasn’t just a job — it was something I deeply cared about. I wasn’t just doing lashes, I was helping women feel confident and natural again.
After moving to the U.S., I worked in salons for a while, but I knew I couldn’t stay in a system that didn’t match my values. I decided to take the risk and open my own mini-studio — just one room, one table, but full of vision.
Now I’m building from that small space. I’m developing my own lash product line and preparing to grow into a full brand with a team trained in my signature technique.
It all started as a side hustle — but the moment I stopped working for others and trusted my way, it became something much bigger.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe my reputation was built on doing things differently — not just better.
Many lash services focus on volume, speed, or dramatic looks. I focused on the opposite: natural enhancement, gentle application, and long-term care. I developed an adaptive lash extension technique that mimics makeup, supports lash health, and grows with each client’s natural features.
I also began helping women recover brow growth after over-plucking, illness, or trauma. Every detail — from lash length to brow restoration — is customized, not templated.
Beyond that, I care deeply about how women feel after a session. I want each client to leave not only looking fresh, but also feeling seen, cared for, and truly themselves.
That emotional connection — paired with visible, lasting results — is what turned first-time clients into regulars, and regulars into advocates.
