We were lucky to catch up with Krystyna Walters recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Krystyna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
I am extremely happy as an artist. I like to joke that I could be thinner and richer, but other than that, it’s a great life.
The best part is growing still and recognizing that I have achieved and still am achieving my childhood dreams.
It is a wondrous feeling to honor the little girl inside of me, to create space for her dreams, and for her healing, too.
So many of us have dreams in our hearts that we abandon for stability or because we doubt ourselves.
I’m not immune to that. Stability is important to me because my dreams aren’t limited to life as an artist. Life as a happy mother and wife is paramount to me. So I turned my “side hustle” into a 6-figure business that allows me to have stability and the means to pursue creative endeavors. Furthermore, my “side hustle” is a tutoring business where I find immense joy in guiding the next generation by helping them build confidence and open doors for their own futures.
I don’t wonder what it would be like to have a regular job… other than as an actress, I DO get to have regular jobs. The character I’m playing now is an architect. So I get to create a world where I am an architect. My last feature film I was a seamstress. I’ve been a news reporter, an assistant, and more.
There’s no shame in a ‘regular job.’ But for me, I use those stepping stones of jobs to help fuel and fund my dreams.
It’s worked for me, and can work for you.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I grew up the daughter of an emergency shock trauma doctor and a shock trauma nurse-turned-stay-at-home mom of 7. I was raised in a charming small town in Pennsylvania. I love school. Still do. Every summer I attended a math and science camp, and one year camp offered an acting class. I was hooked.
I began acting locally everywhere and anywhere. By high school I was performing in my school productions, community theater, and equity theater. I earned a scholarship to the University of Miami where theatre morphed into film, tv, and commercial bookings.
In Los Angeles, I learned how to produce films and found it to be a great fit for my skills, plus a way to take some control and create acting opportunities for myself.
Along the way I found myself building a thriving tutoring company that allows me to pursue any and all dreams while still supporting my family with rewarding, meaningful work.
