We recently connected with Krystyna Milevska and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Krystyna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Success in the event planning business starts with a genuine passion for creating. Ever since I was younger I would love to pick up some leafs and rocks outside and make something out of them. As I got older, it progressed into planning parties for my friends, creating small decorations from things I could find at the dollar store.
Now as an adult, I have followed my true passion of creating which led me to Event Planning. Every client, every event is unique and requires you to think outside of the box sometimes (all the time). Sometimes your client will have a different vision than you and this is where your strong communication skills take place. I believe in any business, communication is important, however in the event planning where every details matter, you have to be able to compromise and make your client happy. Being detail organized is crucial. There are so many things happening during an event, and you have to be ready for some quick decisions. This leads me to adaptability. You have to be ready for unforeseen events such as rain, vendors being late, equipment breaking. Lastly, dedication. I look at my business as something I am proud of and I constantly work on my business to keep it growing. Sometimes I make a joke that I left my 9-5 job to work 24/7.

Krystyna, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have always planned parties for my friends and family. One year my friend was turning 24 on the 24th, which makes it a “champagne birthday’. It was during peak COVID time, and we couldn’t go anywhere. We decided to throw a small party at her house and she was not too happy about it. I thought of ways I can elevate this party and decided to order a champagne wall for her.
As I started looking for walls on Instagram, I realized that there aren’t many vendors. More so, the walls I saw were not something I loved. From there an idea of making the wall I wanted was born. I reached out to my friend who was a carpenter and gave him a sketch that I had been working on. He made the wall, I stapled down the flowers and painted it and there she was…my first wall. From there, Bubbly Walls was created. I went on to creating 8 more walls the following months. All of my walls were designed, painted and installed by me. The only thing I did not do was the wood work.
What sets me apart is that I did not stop at just walls, I started doing champagne towers and bigger set ups. I wanted Bubbly Walls to be a one stop for event planning and event decor.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Although I am a very outgoing person, it was very scary to get yourself out there on social media. From research and seeing success from other Bloggers and successful planners, I knew that the only way to succeed was to engage with your audience. In the beginning I only had about 170 followers as I started my account from zero. Every day I would post a video from my warehouse, showing the work behind the scenes such as me painting the wall or moving stuff. Talking to my audience was a huge, even though I felt silly doing it as I did not have that many followers. However, when new followers would look at my stories the reason they stayed and followed me was because I was constantly engaging.I would make funny reels and talk about funny stories that people relate to. My advice would be to be yourself as people are drawn to this. My second advise would be to never buy instagram followers as this decreases your chances of reaching real clients. I will be honest, I was considering this when my account was stuck at 600 followers but I knew it takes time to grow.
Now, my second year in business I had just reached 4K followers. This journey was tough but I am so happy I went through this learning curve!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding thing to me is seeing my clients’ reaction to the event I set up for them. It’s truly amazing to see all the hard work you put and being rewarded with gratitude and recognition. I keep in contact with 90% of my clients and it is amazing to have these relationships.
