We were lucky to catch up with Krystin Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Krystin, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
In this industry, it can be tough. Some people have great moods and others just want you to do only what they inquired about. The nicest thing a customer, who is now like family has done, is send me a gift card in my email to get some lunch one day just because I helped with her policies, get mom’s policies, & her dad’s policies plus later her daughter as well. It meant a lot because people tell me” let’s do lunch “ all the time but she didn’t mention it and just sent it over! It’s the little things and just like we show appreciation to customers, it was so nice getting it in turn. Bonus: she refers people and tags me on social media too!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a licensed insurance sales team member with State Farm 9/5:30 Mon-Friday! I applied, not thinking anything of it on indeed years ago and got the call and have been with my agent for 3 years now! I’m loyal, but most of all, I’m committed to helping people make good financial decisions for the future. (I.e. life insurance, bundling to save money, protecting their family, assets and income, as well as themselves.) I take pride in working for the #1 insurance company in the country

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I’m also licensed in cosmetology. I was a fulltime business owner while my son was small, so that I could work from home and raise my son and not have to rely on daycare. I wanted to be present for my son. I was able to get him into the elementary school’s pre-k program when he was 4 years old and that was a turning point for me, because I wanted to also get on a schedule and get back in the workforce as well. I took a chance, dive into something I had never done before and passed all exams first time around. I knew it was God because mommy brain is real. lol and I only had 1 week of preparation before each exam. I’m thankful though and in life, it’s ok to do what you need to until you can do what you want to

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Google reviews And remembering to be myself helps build my reputation in the insurance market. I’m a great person and I have a very BIG personality! I have her and trained with some industry greats, but I had to realize that there’s not one truly greater than me. They’re not doing anything above what I know that I can do. It’s a matter of maintaining my positivity and making sure to show that over-the-phone when meeting people as well. My agent also mashed sure we have high value leads as well, so I follow up to ensure no stone is left unturned
