We recently connected with Krystal Rodgers and have shared our conversation below.
Krystal, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s one of the most important lessons you learned in school?
In massage therapy school, I was so nervous to start clinical practice. For a massage therapist, that’s finally getting to put all our hands on work and knowledge of muscles, bone, body systems etc. learned from the first three months of school to use on the public and receive feedback. I was so worried about the social aspect because I’m usually a very quiet and reserved person but I quickly realized that most people just want to be heard. Whether it’s an ache or pain that just can’t get rid of or something that went wrong in their day prior to. And it’s so important in running my business now, whether is scheduling an appointment or I need to make adjustments during the massage session, I always make sure to listen, communicate and accommodate my clients within reason.

Krystal, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a recently licensed massage therapist with my own private practice located in Maumelle, Arkansas that I started in November of 2024, Moore Magic Massage. I first became interested in massage when I was dating and one of the gifts I would give would be a massage because my partner really enjoyed them. They also gave me the nudge to start massage therapy school because I was genuinely gifted at it. I was definitely a little overwhelmed at the beginning because it had been awhile since I had been in school and you start hands on massage the first day but I ended loving it so much more than I expected. From book work to hands on I really loved every moment and thrived in a new way I didn’t think possible.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I do check ins after appointments. Usually 1-3 after an appointment, I’ll send a message from our business like checking in on how they feel and any adjustments or feedback they might have me and the next massage session. As well as offering returning clients discounts and rolling out new features.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Having to build up clientele from scratch and really promoting and putting myself out there. The first few months have definitely been rough, especially starting a business a month after moving cities. Having to invest and spend money I didn’t really have but with continued discipline, focus and dedication my clientele is growing and return clients are happy and referring me and I now have plans for more expansion coming soon.
