We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Krystal Phillipson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Krystal below.
Hi Krystal, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I have been an interior designer since 2007. I am passionate about helping people and creating a beautiful space for them to live in. Over the years I have worked at different interior design jobs. This has taught me that I really am designing for the love of my passion & how to put the whole design process together from start to finish.
I can help my clients from new home construction to a small projects. Every client is so different and I feel why not learn about them & let the design show who they are in the home. I love when a client steps outside the box & wants to do something unique, those are my favorite projects to work on.
Krystal, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As a little girl, one of my favorite things was rearranging furniture in my room and my favorite class in high school was art. I knew I had a passion for interior design, so I went after it. I have loved it since I started. So many different fields of work you can do with interior design and that’s one thing I love about it. It’s so much more then just decorating a room and that’s what I love about it. It’s so rewarding at the end of the day, when your client walks in and loves what you did for them.
I help my clients in person and remote. With my experience over the years, I can handle any scale of a project. People often get overwhelmed when designing a new home, I love helping my clients with the process and seeing the whole project come together. I work with installers to make sure the installs go smoothly. I love taking the ease off my clients and having them trust me with the whole design process.
I love to space plan. Coming up with a layout that works can be challenging but I am always up for the challenge. Most designers don’t love this part of design but I do!
I have worked on residential & commercial projects. Recently one of my restaurant designs, was just filmed on America’s Best Restaurants, Cattlemen’s Steakhouse.
Every client has different style & I love sitting down with my clients and getting a feel for who they are & making the home feel like them. I don’t think every home design should be the same, that would make things so boring in life. Be different, be you & let the home show your style.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source for new clients is referrals from your current clients. When my clients refer me, I know they love my designs & happy with my services I provide to them.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Treat all clients the same, even if it’s just a small job. They will remember you & next time they need help with a design project you will come to mind.
