We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Krystal McGee. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Krystal below.
Alright, Krystal thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Folks often look at a successful business and imagine it was an overnight success, but from what we’ve seen this is often far from the truth. We’d love to hear your scaling up story – walk us through how you grew over time – what were some of the big things you had to do to grow and what was that scaling up journey like?
Realistically implementing and putting things into real action is super weird scary. It doesn’t matter how much research you do, or nights you spend watching YouTube videos. Starting a business will bring upon the nerves! When I first launched 1/1/2021 I eased into the boutique world showcasing and providing pieces that were effortless in style and fashion, Taking a little, and looking amazing. Control of inventory is a MUST! Keeping items and pieces in stock will keep the flow of your business. When I first started, I used to have longer periods of time before I released the next drop. Currently, we have been releasing more pieces to date, as we’ve added thrifting to our brand. We don’t only offer boutique pieces, but also dope thrifted gems searched by myself Krystal McGee as a stylist for my clients. We also now offer one on one consultations. Currently our clients are able to book those sessions which brings in more revenue as a business owner and personal time with my client. I would definitely say that your talent is your best friend. Treat your talent as a gift from God. Our brand is unique, caring, and ready to expand.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
We thrive on grabbing last minute pieces for our clients when they are in search of specific pieces, This is when my talent kicks in. The trust begins at this moment, and we thrive on meeting the expectations of our clients. KryStylez Closet is working closely with Non Profit Organizations in the effort to give back to our community, and working closely with girls and women who seek to start their own businesses and develop professional skills. In the effort to reduce cost on shipping for our clients who are local, they are now able to do local pickup. We try to accommodate every aspect of our clients needs in order to provide the best service possible. Dropping new pieces and “gems” as we call it, always excites my clients, but me more. This is the opportunity for me to gain more knowledge of my audience styles, clients specific sizes and needs along with the most comfortably spending price, Providing all of these things for clients builds relationships, and connections through amazing apparel.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
From not making any sells in months to now making sells everyday took some time. Initially starting out I didn’t have any strategies as it relates to developing my target audience. But with the help from my business coaches, and my mentors KryStylez Closet as a brand now has the resources and tools available to be successful overall as a brand. It was very frustrating in the beginning attempting to run a brand alone. But, as hard as it was, and as it can be at times, I’ve never wanted to quit. I always wanted to continue the journey. I like to document my experience while going through challenges to encourage me for the next challenge that may arise. I recommend every one does this.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Our social medias are a great way for our clients to stay connected with us. We know that those connections will continue to grow. What we express throughout the brand is the developing of great stylist and client relationship. Our clients feel comfortable reaching out to us via Instagram.com/krystylez_closet and Facebook.com/KryStylezCloset to stay connected with our latest drops and to chat with us if needed. Since launching our brand 1/1/21 we’ve developed and maintained a small intimate following so that our clients get the attention that they need. As business grows so will our communication. As for now, all DM’s are welcomed. That’s what our clients love the most. Getting a answer to questions they need with a great turnaround.
