Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Krys Kinsel. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Krys, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you wish you had started sooner?
I truly wish I hadn’t gotten so discouraged early on! I kept quitting if someone close to me criticized me in any way! Restarting now, I have come to realize that my harshest critic is myself. However, age has slowly released that grip of approval neediness and I am just me. I can create weirdness and be genuine.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hey! My name is Krys Kinsel, I am an illustrator, host of Zineville Channel on YouTube and overall art auntie/teacher of collected art and zine lessons. I definitely love watercolor, and love creating ethereal pieces. Watercolors teach patience and zen principals…you cannot rush them! I also love printmaking and making comics. However, zines are my main focus as I not only create, but I teach and talk about zines on my channel, Zineville. I hope to lead zine workshops for teachers, other creative and community centers, as I feel they can benefit from learning how zines can help their brand grow
