We were lucky to catch up with Kristyna Saja recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kristyna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
When I graduated college in 2011, I jumped into the creative world with an eagerness to learn. I taught myself by doing — building websites, designing logos and graphics, producing videos, capturing photography, writing content, and managing social media content for businesses. Working as a freelancer, I accepted every project that came my way, even when it pushed me outside my comfort zone. I formed my first LLC, KB Multimedia, and learned through hands-on experience, trial and error, and a relentless willingness to figure things out as I went.
Looking back, while that broad approach helped me develop a diverse skill set, I could have accelerated my learning by seeking out mentors or joining industry communities earlier on. Having someone to offer guidance or share insights might have helped me refine my focus faster. That said, the skills I gained — adaptability, problem-solving, and creative storytelling — were essential in shaping my career.
One of the biggest challenges to learning more was simply time. Balancing multiple disciplines while running a business and working full-time often left me stretched thin, slowing my ability to truly master any one area. After about seven years of exploring every facet of multimedia, I made the decision to rebrand as KB Video Productions, honing my focus on professional video production and photography. This shift not only allowed me to deepen my expertise but also elevated the quality of my work.
For a long time, I struggled with the idea of letting go of certain skills. I felt like admitting I wasn’t great at everything was a failure — like I should be able to “do it all.” But the truth is, no one can excel at everything, and accepting that opened the door to something even better: collaboration. Working alongside other talented creatives has been invaluable, bringing fresh perspectives and pushing my work further than I could have achieved alone.
I still draw on everything I’ve learned over the years in my current role as a creative director. The industry is constantly evolving, but having a foundation across multiple disciplines helps me adapt, innovate, and lead projects with a well-rounded perspective. And outside of work, my passion for storytelling continues through screenwriting — a creative outlet that not only fuels my imagination but sharpens my ability to craft compelling narratives in all areas of my work.
In hindsight, starting broad and then refining my craft based on what I loved most was the best path I could have taken. It not only shaped me into a more versatile creator but also made me a more valuable professional — both behind the camera and on the page.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a creative professional with over a decade of experience in multimedia, specializing in video production and photography. But at my core, I’m a storyteller. I’ve always loved creating brands, themes, worlds, and characters, and I’ve spent my career trying to figure out how to turn that passion into a fulfilling profession.
I got my start after graduating with a communications degree focused on multimedia. I dove into freelancing, taking on everything from website design and graphic work to social media management and content writing. That hands-on experience helped me understand every layer of the creative process, but I eventually realized that video production and photography were where I truly thrived. So, I refined my business into KB Video Productions, where I help clients bring their visions to life through compelling visual storytelling.
My work solves a key problem for clients: turning vague ideas into polished, impactful content that resonates with their audience. Whether it’s capturing the essence of a brand through video or highlighting someones beautiful work with my photography, I pride myself on delivering high-quality, thoughtful visuals. What sets me apart is my ability to see a project holistically — blending technical skills with narrative insight to create content that not only looks great but tells a meaningful story.
I’m most proud of my growth and willingness to evolve. I’ve embraced several shifts in my career, from broad multimedia work to refining my focus on video, and now exploring screenwriting in my spare time. Movies and music have always inspired me, offering an escape when I needed it most, and my dream is to create work that does the same for someone else. I want to tell emotionally relatable and compelling stories that make people feel seen and heard — narratives that spark hope and inspire people to keep going, even when life feels unbearably tough. Because sometimes, knowing you’re not alone in what you’re feeling can make all the difference.
I bring passion, adaptability, and a deep love for storytelling to every project I take on. I care about the details, the emotions, and the impact of what I create — and I’m always excited to help others share their stories with the world in a meaningful way.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Self-doubt, insecurity, and imposter syndrome are very real, and I’ve felt their weight more times than I can count. There have been moments when I’ve questioned my career choices or worried if I was moving forward fast enough. But I’ve come to realize that those moments are where my resilience shines through. It’s often the point where people decide to give up, but I firmly believe we’re all on the path we’re meant to follow. Every decision — even the ones that felt like detours — has played a role in shaping who I am today. I trust that each experience, even the “delays,” has been essential in guiding me to become the best version of myself and bringing me closer to where I want to be.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is the ability to express myself through my work. Music and movies have always been huge influences — they’re powerful forms of storytelling that have shaped who I am and continue to fuel my creativity. Listening to film scores, for example, opens my mind to new ideas, helping me visualize scenes and imagine worlds I might not have otherwise discovered. That energy flows directly into my own projects, especially my screenwriting, where I get to build stories and characters that feel like extensions of my imagination.
Beyond my personal projects, my interior photography gives me the chance to collaborate with talented designers and capture the beauty of their carefully curated spaces. Shooting kitchens, in particular, feels like an adrenaline rush — I’m always searching for that perfect editorial shot, where staging, lighting, and composition come together seamlessly. It’s a creative chase, and when everything clicks, it’s incredibly satisfying. Whether I’m crafting narratives on paper or through a lens, the reward lies in bringing ideas to life and sharing that vision with others.
