We were lucky to catch up with Kristyn Brielle Cordova recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kristyn Brielle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
In life, I’ve had many moments feeling comfortable. However, life is not about comfort. I realized early in my career that there was something missing and by midway through knew there needed to be change. Although on the outside my life felt and was seen as stable, on the inside I knew I was meant to do more. I remember one day walking into a room filled with physicians (brilliant minds) typing away at their computers with an overwhelming feeling of melancholy. It dawned on me then that this system wasn’t working. I was not meant to be a part of this broken system. I was meant to be more. To help build the system. To change the system. To embrace my creativity and uniqueness. That epiphenomenal moment changed the trajectory of my next steps in life and guided me in the direction that truly brings me to what I do now and further guides me daily on my path fulfillment and purpose. I will say that the road to this is not easy and it has taken a few years to truly solidify and work through personal battles. Epiphenomenal moments do not come with a road map. Sometimes the hardest thing and the best thing to do is to take a chance.

Kristyn Brielle, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My career started approximately 14 years ago when I first started my nursing care at UNM. From there, I gain experience in women’s health, OR, PACU, ER, outpatient patient care. I further continued my career by obtaining my graduate degree, and I am currently a practicing family nurse practitioner who specializes in cardiovascular care, primary care, aesthetics, and hormone replacement therapies.
I also recently was promoted and am currently the clinical director for Vessel Health, a cardiovascular centered practice, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico in the beautiful serene Los Ranchos area.
As a provider, I focus on a patient’s well-being as a whole. The goal is to provide top level patient care to New Mexicans.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I believe that the most effective strategy for building clientele is rooted, deep and old school tradition and ethics/values. You need to understand your client and see things from their perspective. You need to listen and you need to learn continuously. With that being said, the most effective strategy for growing clientele is to be Reliable, honest and give clear direction on the services that you can offer.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Throughout this journey of change, I’ve had many times of self-doubt and a generalized feeling of “did I make the right choice?” There was many times where family and friends couldn’t understand why I had made such changes but deep down. I knew that if I focused and believed in myself and what I stood for things would move in the right direction.
